CHAPTER ONE BOOK ONE

Allison's POV

"You've got to be kidding me!" that was Allison Ferrer.

As she so desperately tried to fit into the never worn designer skinny jeans she'd bought with the hopes of having lost some of the surplus weight she neither desired nor needed-by the end of the summer, which, clearly enough, she didn't.

How hard can it be to lose four pounds?

For the thousandth time she had found herself yet once again struggling either to button or to zip something up.

With a heavy, resigned sigh she walked to her brother's room across her own, trying to avoid her mother, Lucrecia, at all costs. With whom she had recently had a heated argument.

Maybe Sebastian can help me with the zipper. She thought to herself, he always helped her with everything.

Allison knocked on her brother's door once, twice and when he didn't answer she returned to her room.

He'd been distant from her and acted so oddly since the beginning of the summer and it worried her immensely so, it was in no way like him behaving this strange, Bastian was the pride and joy of the family.

She was the black sheep of the family, always the wayward child.

Having been accepted in Harvard was the cherry atop the pie for him yet he didn't seem to be overwhelmed with joy as their mother, though Allison highly suspected it had something to do with her being able to show off at the country club more than actually being proud of him.

Perhaps Bastian was behaving that way because their father, Stefano, hadn't even called to congratulate him and now that she thought of it, he didn't even call him on his birthday as he and their mother had agreed to.

Ever the never present father figure.

Now that any of her attempts where utterly futile, she gave up and opted for an off shoulder navy blue fitted dress and bowed flats. She hated those deathly high-heeled footwear her mother always bought her. Lucrecia constantly prodded her to wear them, but she refused. In consecuence there were a good two hundred unused pairs in her walk-in closet.
