CHAPTER SEVEN
ALLISON
"Allison, I'm going to go to dinner with some friends. What do you think about my dress?" Lucrecia asked in her singsong voice, as she twirled around Allison's room like a little girl with a brand new high couture dress.
"Ostentatious, like every other piece of clothing in your closet," Allison said sweetly, as if addressing a child.
Allison scribbled furiously the answers of her math homework, not paying much attention to her mother's nonsense babbling.
"Vanessa Huntington it's going to be so jealous of my dress, did I mention they moved across the street? They got some lame middle class apartment, I guess they couldn't afford much. Huntington Enterprises it's kind of—" she waved her perfectly manicured hand idly in the air as if nothing of importance."—broke."
Allison's pen slipped from her fingers at hearing this troublesome news.
Jumping from her chair and on to her bed just next to her mother.
"Are the Huntingtons broke? But Bl—"
Her mother narrowed her eyes at the initials of Blake, and thinking better of it she decided it was better to keep their "friendship" or whatever it was what they had off the radar.
"Er…Mr. Huntington's kids arrived in a helicopter this morning. If they were really broke don't you think they wouldn't indulge themselves with such pretentious amenities?"
Lucrecia seemed less than interested by this news.
"People tend to be pretenders, my love. Don't you ever let anyone fool you, dear."
Allison frowned upon detecting a slight edge to her mother's voice, it was so unlike her not to smile with her eyes and speak in that often annoying, over jaunty high pitched voice of hers.
Brushing her mother's cheek, Allison stood and took her mother's hand.
"Come on, show off that pretty face of yours and flip your hair in that unique way you do,"
Lucrecia waved at her, and just before she closed the door, peeked through the door. "Remember you're still grounded, meaning no leaving this house, no T.V., no books."
Rolling her eyes, Allison ran to the bathroom and took a quick shower, towel dried and flat ironed her hair.
Once she was fully clothed, she stood in front of the mirror and grunted at her less than decent outfit.
I'm such a frump!
All too soon, there was a call from the lobby informing of the arrival of certain boy.
"A fair haired, young man, with light eyes and a bouquet of flowers. Should I let him up, Miss Ferrer?"
Of freaking course!
"Yes," Allison said as tranquilly as she could.
She'd decided to wear a white short dress, and light make up. No heels, no fake lashes like Jessica had suggested her when Allison talked to her after Bastian had left her in her home in the city.
"I already ship you guys, I'm going down with this ship," Jessica had joked just before hanging up.
Bastian wasn’t home, and Jessica hadn’t answer any of her texts, and the way they looked at each other when he'd offered to take them to shopping or to that restaurant Jessica loved.
