CHAPTER TWO
"Last time I checked," Blake said, his eyes glinting with amusement. His blond hair had darkened with water.
Allison gaped at him, he'd left years ago without any explanation...without a farewell.
He left and didn't come back, she was really shocked, her best friend leaving and now, out of the sudden here.
A complete beautiful stranger.
In a party, having saved her from drowning.
With a slight shake of her head she stood and almost tripped with her own feet, Blake tried to take her hands but she had it under control.
"What are you doing here anyway? How could you possibly be here of all places?" She demanded.
She asked almost defensively.
Allison had spent years wondering where he was and now that he'd finally come back, she could only but feel anger towards him.
Blake stepped aback, holding his hands up in defense
"I missed you, too," he mumbled more to himself than to her, though she detected no sign whatsoever of sarcasm in his voice.
Though the music was still loud, people lingered near the pool with curious eyes.
Bastian took off his jacked and put it on her shoulders.
"Are you okay?" he asked her.
Ally nodded, zipped up her brother's jacket and rocked impatiently on her heels.
She was distraught.
Mortified.
Embarrassed at the fact of her clumsiness, her bad luck.
Why did it always have to be like that?
Why me?
She could almost picture the thundering gray cloud above her head, following her every steps wherever she went.
And then her eyes fell on Jessica's.
"Can I talk to you for a sec?" Allison's voice sounded harsher than intended.
She cleared her throat. "Please?" she amended.
Jessica bowed her head, readying herself to lose the battle that had not yet even started.
They went straight to Jessica's room.
Dodging drunk teens, though compliments were well received.
The mansion was next to luxurious, Jessica's mother, Therese, had a slight obsession with gold and jewels and it was reflected in the décor.
In the living above the fireplace hung a massive portrait of the Hart's family. Mr. and Mrs. Hart the epitome of what good-looking meant.
The frame was pure gold.
Allison rolled her eyes at the stupid need of bragging. Her mother and various of her own friends needed on a daily basis.
Once in Jessica's room, Alison exploded.
Jessica sat on her bed as her friend paced the room demanding explanations she did not have.
"What were you thinking? Inviting him here! After what he did! He is longer our friend!"
Jessica could only but sight in defeat.
"I think we should just let it go, I mean, it's not like he wanted to leave. His whole life was here. His father sent him away. Against his will, Allison. He didn't even have a chance to pack his belongings. This morning I ran into him and we caught up with each other's lives.
