Nick walked quickly down the hall to the throne room. A maid had told him that his stepmother wanted to see them. Immediately.
I wonder what She wants now. Nick thought.
As he opened the doors to the throne room he saw his stepmother sitting on one of the four thrones, she was sitting in the one that she usually sits in, which was the second tallest, his father had the tallest one, Nick and Grace had the same height which was the third tallest.
From the doors to the thrones there was a red velvet carpet. He walked down it towards his stepmother.
"Hello, Nicholas," Avelina greeted him.
"Good morning, Stepmother," He replied. "You had called for me?"
"Yes, it's about your sister,"
"What!?" Nick corrected himself. "I-I mean, what about my sister?"
"She ran away," She replied as if it was nothing, which confused Nick.
"She ran-wait what!?" Nick exclaimed.
"Yes," Avelina said stiffly. "Do you have any idea where she may be?"
"No, no I'm afraid not,"
"Would your friends know?"
"My-my friends?"
"Yes, your friends," She said friends as if it were nothing of importance.
"I don't think so..."
"We'll make sure you fully know and report back to me when you find out,"
"Yes," Nick gave her a quick bow and sped off to find his friends.
"Lucas! Erin! There you guys are!" Nick called, when he saw them walking around the garden outside, he ran over to them.
"Hi, Nick," Erin smiled.
"Hey," Lucas said.
"What's wrong, Nick?" Erin asked.
"Where's the princess?" Lucas asked.
"That's what I need to tell you! Follow me!" Nick said and darted off away from the castle.
Lucas and Erin looked at each other in confusion and sprinted off after Nick.
"Here we are!" Nick announced as they got to the huge bush wall surrounding the castle.
"Uh, Nick, this is the castle protection bush," Lucas said.
"I know, follow me," Nick said.
They walked through the bush, pushing back the branches in the way.
"Are we almost there, where ever we're going?" Erin asked.
"Yes," Nick answered. Once they got out of the bush, there was a row of trees, and then one huge tree.
"Where are we?" Lucas asked.
"Watch," Nick said. He walked over to the huge tree in front of them and moving his hand looking for something. Then seemed to find it over some moss and started tearing it so it would still be on the tree and would just hang down. When he finished it revealed a doorknob. Nick turned it and started to pull it open.
"Uh, Nick? Isn't that going to hurt the tree?" Erin asked him.
"Nope," He pulled it one last time and it opened showing a doorway with a set of stairs going up and down.
"Cool," Lucas said.
"I don't think that's normal," Erin pointed out.
"I know right!" Nick said."So one day I was exploring-"
