Grace didn't answer she just looked ahead, away from Lucas.

"You don't want to, do you?"

Grace shook her head, and replied faintly enough so quiet that he could barely hear her, "No..."

"Why?"

"Well don't you have your doubts on being a guardian of kingdom you just learned existed?" Grace questioned.

"Well, I don't know, I haven't really thought of it..."

"You should before you hear what I have to say,"

"Grace...please just tell me...I'm sure I'll understand..."

"Really? Because for all you're sure about is that we're all guardians and we have no idea where we are," Grace said, slightly angry.

"I'm sorry for knowing the facts," Lucas fired back.

"What if I don't want to have powers!" Grace yelled, drawing Nick's and Erin's attention towards them. "What if I don't want to be guardian!? What if I don't want to hurt anyone like my stepmother does!?"

"How do you know that!?" Lucas yelled right back. "Why would you be like Avelina if we're guardians, we help lives, not destroy them!"

"I don't want to lose control of the powers I didn't even know existed!" She softened her voice. "I don't want to hurt someone..."

Lucas's angered suddenly decreased as he realized what was wrong. "Grace...none of us are going to let that happen,"

"He's right," Nick stepped over towards his sister. "None of us are going to let that happen," He put his arm around her.

"To anyone of us," Erin agreed.

"Princess, come on, you won't hurt anyone," Lucas said softly.

"How do you all know that?" Grace asked her friends. "You're all so sure of everything how do you even know? Anything can happen?"

"Since when have you been the doubtful one?" Lucas smiled. She shrugged, not answering.

"I don't know..." She finally said. "Maybe I've been around you too much," She smirked, her worriedness and sadness fading away.

"Uh! I will try not to be offended by that," Lucas puts on a hurt face and a hand over his heart as though to be offended.

Seeing nobody else was going to say anything Erin said, "Should we keep moving? We should be close to the river by now,"

"Okay, good," Lucas said.

"Let's go," Grace said.

"Yeah," Nick kept his arm around his sister as Erin led the way.

Hey, Nick? Grace thought so her brother could only hear her.

Yeah, Grace? Nick thought back so she could hear him and no one else could.

I just realized if I am a guardian...how am I supposed to rule this kingdom if this really is our kingdom?

You'll figure it out...you always do.

Gee, thanks for the great advice, Nicholas. Grace thought sarcastically.

That's what I am here for.

To give terrible advice?

No, being your brother.

Thanks.

Anytime, Grace.

"Erin, how much far-" Grace didn't even bother finishing her sentence because as they turned passed a few trees they reached the river.
