I did what Tord had told me to do when Murph first went into the hospital. I got on with my life. It had been two weeks since Murph snapped at me. He would be getting out by now but his relapse had forced them to extend his stay. Tord and I had become wrapped up in our music, writing and recording songs. I kept myself busy so I always had an excuse as to why I didn't visit my friend. If I wasn't at work or uni, I was playing guitar, bass, drums, piano, anything. I slept irregularly, ate rarely. Tord was at his girlfriend's more and more. He would be home about twice a week. I became used to living alone. I still found it difficult to get up in the morning and take a shower. I was sure that the smell of vomit in the bathroom was just in my head now. I'd spent 10 quid a week on febreeze to try and get rid of it but it never went. It wouldn't leave.

I went into Laren's and saw Mark and Clive sitting at our usual table. They smiled at me and after I grabbed my coffee, I went over to sit with them.
"You look like shit" Clive said.
"Don't be like that" Mark said, looking at him and sipping his coffee.
"How's he doing?" Clive followed up with, looking intently at me.
"No clue" At least I was honest.
"Tord told me that they extended his sentence" Clive said, rolling a cigarette.
"He's not in prison"
"Might as well be"
"If you can't say nice things, don't open your fucking mouth" Mark said through gritted teeth.
"I think I'm gonna get going" I told them, gathering my stuff and getting up.

I was sitting quietly in the living room, in the dark. Only the screen of my laptop illuminated my face. I heard the door opening behind me. Turning round, I saw Tord standing in the doorway. He flipped on the light and looked at me with tired eyes.
"Why you in the dark?" He asked.
"Why have you decided to come home?" I came back with.
"I came to check on you. Clive rang me and told me what happened earlier. Are you okay?"
"I want to see him"
