The bus stops about three blocks away from the Shoreline Amphitheatre. I put my earbuds away, and wait for everyone to file off the bus before getting off myself. But when I do get off, I practically run for the venue.
Once we make it there, we see the gigantic, mile long line wrapped around the Amphitheatre. But we march right up to the front of the line, and instead of waiting three hours, we wait thirty minutes, because we had cans.
We're one of the first two hundred people to make it into the event, so first off, we buy a schedule and apply sunblock. The first show we want to see is in thirty minutes, so we run over to the Mutant Red Dawn stage to get one of the first spots. We stand at the very front of the stage, pressed up against the barricade until Ice Nine Kills finally starts. But I notice Lilly seems not nearly as excited as I am. She's taking pictures of everything, but really isn't in the moment.
"MOUNTAIN VEIW HOW THE FUCK ARE WE DOING?!" Spencer screams into the mic, and everyone, including me screams back "We're gonna start this show off with with Hell... in the Hallways, if that's alright with all of you" everyone chants back at him "Alright, this song is for anyone who's ever felt like they didn't belong, LETS GET THIS SHIT STARTED!"
Spencer put the mic down and steps back, then as the heavy drums start to beat, he steps forward again, his long hair flying around. His head is thrashing around to beat of the song, then goes still as it's his time to sing.
"Ostracized and terrorized!" He screams into the mic, his voice heavy and rough, then the whole crowd throws there hands up, cheering and dancing along with the song
"They'll never contain and no one is safe, maybe now they'll remember her name" he sung, and song after song his voice remand strong. I took lots of videos, and because no one was blocking my view they turned out amazing.
After Ice Nine, we had about fifteen minutes to make it to the Left hand Stage. There were multiple people there who had just finished watching Knuckle Puck, so we didn't get as good of spots as the last show, but this wasn't as important of a band to us anyway. Or to me, because Lilly had never heard of Issues, but I at least new about six songs. We got into about the middle though, because I managed to shove our way through. And once they started, I started recording. But there was no intro, they just jumped right into Hero.
"Owe!" The lead singer screamed into the mic, then the beat dropped and the drums started blaring. I almost like the middle better, despite the view, because when you were right up against the barricade, you could feel the drums thumping into your chest. He starts rapping for a little before the song commences.
"Late at night, sittin' up in my room. Sippin' on adrenaline and pacing over you" his voice was angelic, and he sung the words perfectly. Then when the song was over, I even got to record his little intro
"HEY HEY HEY SAN- MOUNTAIN VEIW! HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU PARTY PEOPLE DOING?!" Everyone cheered "I am so lucky to have all you supporters in this audience today, I know it's hot, but trust me ITS ALL GONNA BE WORTH IT! We have such amazing bands playing all day, and I hope you enjoy them all. And most importantly I hope you enjoy this next song."
The guitar in the beginning almost sounded like the very beginning of an Of Mice And Men song, or maybe even Slipknot, then it became a whole different song. I hadn't listen to this one much, so I didn't recognize it at first, but as soon as he shrieked "Highway loves gonna mess me up" I knew exactly what song it was. I screamed along with all the parts he screamed, but I didn't know much of the rest of the song.
After issues, I stayed for Mayday Parade, then after Mayday, 3oh!3. And by time 3oh!3 was playing, I was back at the front of the barricade and filmed almost everything. I knew all of their songs and screamed and sang along to almost every lyric. This was the first band Lilly had actually known, and even then she only knew three songs, but I could tell when they came on, how much fun she was having.
"MY FIRST KISS WENT A LITTLE LIKE THIS!" I screamed
"And twist!" lilly booty bumped me, and we danced along to the other songs.
After them we rushed over to the starting set of Tonight alive. The set was a little delayed though, so we didn't miss anything. And unlike any other of the stages, this one has shade so we weren't dying. There were also seats, so we sat next to some random people just to make it to the front.
Finally, Jenna and her band mates ran onto the stage, "Hey San Diego how the fuck are we doing?"
The crowd went silent and the bassist Cameron came up to her and whispered in her ear, "Oh my god I'm so sorry Mountain View!" She shrieked and everyone laughed "Here, let me make it up to you by playing you all How Does it Feel!"
Everyone cheered, and they finally started playing. I was so happy I had got her mispronouncing the city on film! It was hilarious (this actually happened but I sadly didn't get it on video).
We left five minutes early from Tonight Alive to see Real Big Fish. I didn't really know this band, but Black Veil Brides was playing after them.
"Hey Amanda" Lilly called
"Yeah?" I screamed over the music
"It's really hot, you wanna take a Lyft home?"
"Your kidding right?" I furrow my eyebrows
"No" she yells back to me
"Dude, the tickets were sixty dollars we're not waisting them" I'm kinda mad now
"It's ninety five fucking degrees though, and the music here isn't even good" she argues
"You know how much they mean to me lilly" I shake my head "these people saved my life, I wanna see all of them"
"Well see them by yourself then, I'm calling an Uber" she puts her foot down, and I'm holding back tears, I can't leave this is the last ever Warped Tour, but I also can't stay alone
"Lilly please" I beg
"No, I'm going home, you can come with or you can stay" she looks at me desperately
"I'm sorry, I have to stay" I tell her with a sigh
"Your moms gonna be mad at you" she puts her hands on her hips
"Your mom will be more mad at you for waisting the bus ticket she bought you, and leaving me" I argue
"Whatever I'll just tell her you were being a fucking bitch" she shoves me, I don't understand why she is being the way, but out of instinct , I punch her hard right in the face, and she falls back into someone, so I make my way into the audience and disappear. I make it side stage, and listen to the last twenty minutes of the show, then fighting as it ends.
"What the Fuck do we do?!" Someone screeches, and I look up to see Andy Beirsack
"We can't go on for at least another hour" Cc shakes his head
"You guys have to preform" the manager tells him, and Andy turns towards me, pulling out his cigarettes, which he hadn't smoked in about a year, and sat right by me. He looked over at me, looked back down, then took another look at me quickly.
"Hey, are you okay?"
