. . .
"A Quirk Apprehension Test?!"
Round face, the girl that called out Midoriya as 'the plain one', cried out, "But what about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?!"
Aizawa-Sensei had his back to us when he responded with, "If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events. U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes." He turned so he was half-facing us.
"You guys have been doing this since Junior High, correct? Physical fitness tests where you weren't allowed to use your quirks. The country still uses averages taken from results from students not using their quirks. It isn't rational. Well, the Ministry of Education is procrastinating."
Your teacher turned to Bakugou, who was standing next to you. "Bakugou, you finished near the top of the practical exam, right? In Junior High, what was your best result for the softball throw?"
Bakugou answered him, "67 meters." You suppress the urge to roll your eyes. Aizawa-Sensei nodded, "Then, try doing it with your quirk." He handed the blonde a softball, and had him go into the middle of this circle. "You can do whatever you want as long as you stay inside the circle. Now hurry up."
The explosive hedgehog (You snicker silently at this nickname you came up with, knowing you'll never say it to his face unless you want burnt skin.) nodded and stretched his arms across his chest for a second before going into the pre-throwing position. He threw the softball, letting off an explosion at the same time.
"DIE!"
Wait, 'die'? He wants to be a hero, but he says that?! Jesus... Then the thought crosses your mind, 'How is he going to find out how far it was thrown?'
As the ball soared through the air, Aizawa-Sensei said, "Know your own maximum first."
Some distance away, the ball landed, and a little beeping noise came from Aizawa-Sensei's direction. He turned around and showed everyone the device he was holding. "This is the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero." The phone screen read "705.2 meters".
Around you, different students let out little exclamations.
"What's this? It looks fun!" "We can use our quirks as much as we want! As expected from the hero course!" "'It looks fun', huh? You have three years to become a hero. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time?"
You sigh, mumbling to yourself, "Why comment on our attitude when yours is like, well, that..."
Aizawa-Sensei smirked sadistically, "All right. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion."
Everyone around you gasped. You glance over at Midoriya with concern. He held a special place in your heart, and you couldn't bear to lose him.
"We're free to do what we want about the circumstances of our students. Welcome to U.A.'s hero course!" Aizawa-Sensei lifted his hair our of his face to grin at you all.
Round Face stepped forward, crying out, "Last place will be expelled? But it's the first day of school! No.. Even if this wasn't the first day of school, this is too unfair!"
"Natural disasters, big accidents, and selfish villains. Calamities whose time or place can't be predicted. Japan is covered with unfairness. Heroes are the ones who reverse those situations. If you wanted to go talk with your friends at Mickey D's after school, too bad. For the next three years, U.A. will do all it can to give you one hardship after another. Go beyond. Plus Ultra. Overcome it will all you've got."
