"Come on, Sachi-chan! We're almost theeerrreee!!" Naruto's whining was beginning to grate on my nerves, so, like any normal person... I punched him in the head.

"Shut up. Your voice is annoying." I said irately, fists clenched. I knew this district- we were, indeed, very close to our destination.

Naruto seemed surprised by my blunt response, but seemed to realise that I was in a foul mood so left it well alone. I felt slightly guilty at his forlorn expression, but not enough to apologise. The last thing I wanted was for him to start bouncing around again.

Sensing my distress, Kakashi-sensei gave me a sideways glance. Though it didn't go unnoticed, I showed no sign of acknowledging him- I didn't really want to talk about my issue and anyway, Sensei could probably figure it out on his own.

Our temporary teammate, Masato Fujiwara, eyed me worriedly, and I couldn't help but wonder why he'd care. I'd only met him a few days ago when we had a training session all together, and had barely said two words to him since.

The gates of Kirigakure came into view, and I sighed quietly- there was a seam along the middle of it showing where the repairs had been made. I knew that it was unlikely anyone from the incident would actually confront me if they did recognise me, but I still couldn't help but tense up as I awaited the harsh stares and gazes filled with hate. It was no less than I deserved, but it still made me feel cold on the inside.

I wrapped my arms tightly around myself and pressed onwards, travelling to the day when I could go home again in my mind. Although it was a week away and separated by the Chunin exams, I awaited it furtively. Being here made me feel uncomfortable.

We made it to a hotel, and I kept my head down, unable to look up at my friend that watched me worriedly. Naruto sighed slightly, frowning.

"I'm sorry, but we have no rooms." the person behind the desk said. Kakashi frowned.

"We booked ahead of time, so we should have a reservation already." he said.

"That girl is not welcome here." a woman came out from the back, "This hotel had to be rebuilt because of her."

"Listen lady, Sachi-chan's a ninja of the Leaf village, she's got nothing to do with your problems!" Naruto exclaimed angrily- he didn't know anything about what had happened after all. For some reason, his defending me made me feel worse.

"What part of your brain would make you think anyone would welcome a monster like you here?" the woman continued, ignoring Naruto and speaking directly to me, now, "You crushed the livelihood of many of these villagers and even hurt some of their families! How dare you come here after all that? Stupid girl!"

"Oi-!"

"Naruto, stop it." I said, frowning. "She's right."

"Sachi-chan-"

"Don't. You're just making it worse." I turned to leave, "All of you stay here. I'll find somewhere else. Let's just take what we can get."

"Nowhere in this town will take you in!" the old woman called after me, and I stopped, turning my head as I stood in the doorway. I finally met her gaze, and she seemed disturbed by it.

"I know." I said, then continued, only to be stopped again.

"I'm not going to allow my student to sleep outside alone." Something in Kakashi's usually polite tone had turned abruptly dangerous, "I appreciate that she caused you trouble a while ago, but with all due respect, that was a few years ago when she was emotional and infinitely more reckless. We have paid for this room and so will be staying in this room, regardless of any objections you may have... especially since you have already accepted payment." there was a long silence, us three Genin extremely surprised by Kakashi's sudden change in character. He let go of my wrist. "Now, we will take our key and get out of your hair. I'm sure you're very busy, Sir, Ma'am." the speechless hotel owners handed Kakashi a key, and he smiled at them, "Have a good evening."
