"Umm, Max, are you sure about this?" Nudge said in a feeble voice, her big brown eyes practically begging for us not to go outside. "Honey, if I'm wrong, you get to eat my share of candy for the next month." I said, hopefully sounding somewhat reassuring, and patted her on the head. "Come on. They might be able to help us." She still looked a little uneasy, but she gave a little nod. "Everyone alright with this?" I asked, looking around at the room behind me. Iggy coughed and said "Not really, but has that ever stopped you before?" I smirked, then turned to face the door. I inhaled deeply, then pushed down the copper-coloured handle. "Let's get this party started."
We filed out of the front door, and I was internally hoping I hadn't made the wrong decision. The erasers had seemed convincing enough. "Hi again guys. This is my flock." I waved my arm in their direction, and then proceeded to ask what the erasers wanted from us. "Well, you see, the thing is, Max, we want to work with you. Let me elaborate a little; your father, Jeb, has basically let us in on the fact that you're supposed to be saving the world, so I wanted you to know that we are here to help. There are currently around forty erasers at the New Testing Facility, and I know it's not much, but we're willing to be of assistance." The man smiled, exposing his canine teeth; although he, like the others, was in human form, it still gave me a slight chill.
I was standing to the right of the flock on the patio, and the man talking was slightly in front of the other five, second from the left. "Max? Did you hear me?" The man said. "Um, yep. Sorry, I was a bit distracted." He smiled whilst shaking his head. "Are you alright with the erasers living nearby? I'm sorry that we can't disclose the location, but I'm under strict rules not to let you know where it is. We can be on the lookout, just to make sure you lot are safe from whatever Doomsday decides to throw at you. By the way, I'm Nick, so if you guys," he pointed at all of us "need anything, I'll be right there."
"How can we be sure you're not lying?" challenged Dylan, folding his arms across his broad chest. "Well, you'll see- if you die, you won't be able to say 'I told you so'." Nick smirked, and for a brief second I thought he was quite cute. Then I realised Dylan was probably right and decided to be extra cautious. "Okay, thanks for that, guys." Iggy stepped forward, shook Nick's hand and begun heading for the front door. "See you around. Well, uh, actually hear, feel and smell. Okay, bye." I waved goodbye, and they all unfolded their wings and set off into the evening sky.
