The Best Mistake

Chapter 1

It was the highschool when I met him.

He was always crowded with people.

But I was the average girl who knew to just stay back before a fan girl claims her territory.

But I was brave and irritated of girls always talking about him that I would fail my classes because of their blabbering.

So one day I spread a rumour that he was gay.

and you know what they all fell for it.

It was all swell, no one was talking about his smile or his eyes and nobody knew it was me or so I told them.

My grades got high again but one of the people whom I told the rumour told it to him that I started it so for my punishment

Nobody talked to me for a week.

And one day, I was walking at school when he bumped me and made me fall and everyone was laughing at me. My head hurts and there, I snapped. "You think you're so great huh?"

"Excuse me?" he said.

"You heard me!"

"Guys, do you hear anyone talking to me?" then they laughed.

"I HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!" I punched his face and stormed off.

As I presumed it, I was sent to the principal's office. With him.

They called our parents and I knew my mom would be so disappointed in me.

For our punishment, picking the litter in the whole school which was crazy big.

I did what I was told and he just annoyed me the whole time.

"Will you please stop it!?" I looked at him.

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because you punched me. In my greatest asset." he pointed to his bruise

"Excuse me? Your greatest asset?" I stopped.

"Mmhm." he nodded.

"Your so-called "greatest asset" is the biggest pain in my butt!"

"Well, you have the handsomest pain in the butt." he confidently said

"You know what I admire you and your confidence but would you just do me a favor?"

"Sure, anything for you."

"Would you please stop your fangirls talking about you and your perfectness because it really grinds on my gears and would you please stop annoying me."

"Sure, but I can't do that."

"WHAT? Why not!?"

"Because I don't control my "fangirls" and as I already said, you punched me in the face."

He left me dropping my mouth wide open. "Wow. You really are hopeless. Just forget it. Let's just finish this so our paths won't bump to each other and hurting each other in "your greatest asset."

He nodded and we proceeded on cleaning. When we were about to finish he told me:

"Fine, I can see that you don't like me but I like you. You're fearless and clumsy but you know what it was nice bumping into you. Thanks for hurting me in the face. I look forward to us bumping and hurting each other again. Bye." then he smiled and walked away.

I was absolutely confused with him. He should be furious with me. I cycled home thinking about that statement over and over again then I heard a knock on my room's door.

"Hey sweetie."

"Yeah mom?"

"You okay?"

"Yeah, mom. Just doing some homework."

"Good. Dinner's ready."

"I'll be down then."

I took my paused my music and went downstairs.

"Hello kiddo."

"Hey dad." I said as I sat down on my seat.

"So how's school?" he said.

I just sighed and lied.

"Okay. I guess."

"She got sent to the principal's office today, hun."

"Mom!"

"What for?"

"She punched a boy."

Dad almost choked on his water. "She? Punched? A boy? Who? Why?"

"Okay, I punched him because he humiliated me I didn't wanted to be the laughing stock so I stood up for myself." I explained

"Anything else, kiddo?"

"Nothing else."

"Well then what should be your punishment?"

"Maybe no phone for a week?" dad suggested.

"Go ahead, mom. I just use it for emergencies like when I'm about to get hit by car or something."

"She's right, hun. She needs her phone."

"I know. We'll invite that young boy's family for a dinner to say sorry." dad offered

"Pfft. Like you know him."

"I do, hun." mom smiled.

"What!?" I almost choked.

"His name is Kyle Luigi Vighoreli right?"

"How'd you know that?" I was so confused and scared

"His mom and I were best friends."

"Then it's settled. Kiddo, tomorrow you'll go invite Kyle's family for a dinner this weekend, okay?"

"Can't you just ground me?" I pouted.

"No." they both said.

"Fine."

"Finish your dinner, hun. Then go back to your room."

I hurriedly finished my meal and ran to my room. I got my book then started reading till I fell asleep.

And I still think about the last thing he said to me today. It still got me thinking, why is he confusing me like this?
