"You don't have to follow me around, y'know." I said for nth time, my eyes scanning the shelves where the kids toys were placed.
"I'll help." I saw Jayden shrugged, giving me a stupid grin. It has been over ten minutes since we arrived at the store and I didn't find a gift yet, for Lily.
As soon as we stepped in the store, I rushed towards the kids section leaving Jayden behind who soon found me, much to my dismay.
And for the last ten minutes, he has been trailing behind me, just looking at the toys and not helping me one bit.
"You're just following me and not helping." I muttered moving forward, my eyes not missing a single toy placed on the shelf.
"My presence itself is a way of helping you." He quipped, picking up a box from the shelf not looking at me.
I scoffed at his ludicrous comment and obnoxious behaviour. How could someone be this proud?
"Forcing yourself in my car and following me around doesn't exactly -"
"How old is your friend, btw?" His eyes averted to me from the box on his hands. He quirked an eyebrow at me waiting for a response.
I blinked at his unexpected question, before anger coursed through me at his audacity to cut me off when I was talking.
"You don't need to know." I answered haughtily, crossing my arms over my chest. Showing him my defiance and raised a challenging brow his way.
"I am trying to help, Music." He rolled his eyes, and gave me look which says 'don't be stupid'.
My eyes zeroed on the box he was holding. It was a pink box, and inside it was a doll. I needed all the help I could get and I was in a desperate need of assistance with the gift selection so I decided to swallow my pride and accept his help.
Despite his impudence, I answered him nonetheless. "She's going to be five tomorrow."
His nodded slowly, his eyes lit up at my answer before he snapped his fingers as if he found a solution to one big problem.
"She already got lots of dolls so no, I am not buying her this." I answered before Jayden could even open his mouth to suggest me to buy the doll he was holding.
"If you can just hear me out before jumping to conclusions." His smile was tight and his words strained out. He was annoyed. And it gave me satisfaction.
"What is it?" I huffed, watching the two girls behind Jayden looking at the toys with wide grins on their faces.
They were pointing at each toys and whispering to one another, nodding to whatever the either one was saying. They were crouched and were looking at the toys placed at the lowest shelf.
So they were people who take the trouble to look what was at the lowest shelf.
"Come on." Jayden had already placed the box back in place as he suddenly grabbed hold of my wrist.
He started tugging me in the other direction, he didn't even bother to look at the direction or signs that was put up on the walls or were hanging from the ceiling, which guide the customers where they ought to go if they wanted to buy a particular toy.
I always get lost in this toy store because it was huge and like a maze with many floors. I have visited the store thrice including today and I still couldn't tell which floor sells what.
"Hey, where are you taking me? Do you even know where you are going?" I queried, but still followed him.
"Just trust me on this one." Jayden turned his head over his shoulder and smiled at me, his eyes glowing.
