•UNEXPECTED ARRIVALS•

Friday, June 11th, 2010 . . . 5:57 A.M.

The ICU was quiet, for the most part. Jackson had left a few minutes ago after his pager sounded—something about talking to his Attending which ultimately left Genevieve alone. That is, alone as she could be in the ICU.

During Jackson's absence, she noticed that a handful of Nurses and Doctors scurried around the halls. It caused their feet to scuffle against the tiled floor as they tended to patients. The monotone hums of machines vibrated through the ICU, and the occasional beeping from monitors echoed through the halls. Every few minutes the PA could faintly be heard from the hall as it called for certain Doctors or codes.

Genevieve was slightly surprised with the hectic energy, and all the noise considering it was so early. However it brought a sense of comfort. At least it would have if it wasn't for the fact that every sound seemed ten times louder than it actually was. Earlier, Jackson's voice practically screamed at her, but in reality, he talked in a normal tone. She supposed it was just one of the many side-effects of having brain surgery—she never really spent much time in that field.

Since she woke, she's seen an array of different Nurses. All of them seemed to check something different, and she wondered how long her list of Doctors and Nurses truly was. Ten. Fifteen. Maybe even twenty. She wasn't sure. Though, she didn't have much time to think further on the thought before a light knock sounded on the glass door.
