austin and i make it in the ice cream shop. we buy our ice cream and sit at a table in the corner.

"so if you didn't know, the game is moved to tomorrow," austin says.

"actually, no i did not know. see if you hadn't told me i would not be there. so thank you for that."

"duh."

"well, so what do you think about zion?" i ask.

"he's okay, he's really tall. i thought i was tall, but as always be careful. you're new to this thing."

"yea, yea. actually i slept with him." oh oops, that sounded really wrong.

"YOU WHAT!" he screams.

"what i meant to say was... you know how i tuesday nights to myself, and i watch netflix. well i told him about it, and he wanted to join so i let him. but when it was time for him to go, we walked to his car and it wouldn't start. so i let him stay. don't worry we slept in different beds," i say, without a single breath.

"oh i was about to say," he says.

"um austin, you know me. i would not do that, not that quickly."

"well i can tell that you're interested in him and he is an attractive guy... no homo. you never know guys can easily seduce girls, especially upperclassmen."

"oh give me a break, he's literally one year older."

austin and i talk more. after and hour or so of talking about life we decide to go home. he drops me off back at school and he drives to his apartment. i walk inside my room and nick is sitting down on lydia's bed.

"where is lydia?" i ask.

"she's in the bathroom taking a shower," he responds.

"oh okay," i say as i lay down on my bed.

"dude, so i thought you would want to know something," nick says.

"yes?"

"well i saw zion and victoria together on campus today." he gets my attention and i immediately sit up on my bed, "what time?"

"your class ends at five, so maybe around five thirty."

what? i thought he wanted to go and eat out with me. i guess since i bailed on him, he had to get another girl. but why victoria scott? that is absolutely repulsive. lydia walks out the bathroom before i can say anything. i honestly don't even know what to say. but i am pretty shocked, but at the same time i kind of expected it since he is a junior and so is she.

"ans! you okay?" she asks.

"yea, i am fine. perfectly fine, very normal."

"um okay?"

"sorry ana," nick says.

"it's okay, thanks for letting me know," i say.

"letting her know what?" lydia asks.

"nick told me he saw zion and victoria together."

"oh gross," she says.

"exactly."

moments later i get a facetime call from zion. at this point, nick has already left the room and it is just lydia and i.

"should i ask about it?" i ask lydia.

"i say no, but you do however you feel. because what if they aren't actually friends and victoria was just trying to flirt. because he seems really interested in you."

"you think?" i ask.

"it's my opinion, but don't take my word on it. boys are very weird creatures."

i answer the phone and i act as normal as possible, as if nick never told me anything.

"hey beautiful," he says.

"hey handsome," that felt different, but good.

"i like that, that should be our names for each other. okay?"

"yea i like it too."

i look over to lydia and she is making kissy faces and heart signs using her hands.

"um, are you going to go to the soccer game tomorrow?" i ask.

"no, i don't think so. i'm not that big of a soccer fan. hockey is the way to go."

"of course a canadian would say that."

"you're going?" he asks.

"yea, i am going to support austin. well if you don't go to this game, i am very certain you are going to see me in future games. if i don't show up i literally get a whole lecture... it's painful."

"she's telling the truth, austin is so annoying," lydia says, from the other side of the room.

"but we love him. right lydia?"

"right," she says sarcastically.

"you would be a great girlfriend, you'd be there as a strong supporter in everything," he says. i did not expect that whatsoever.

"um thank you." i giggle.

"if you were my girlfriend i would never let you go."

"um... thank you?" this time, not knowing how to react.

"i'm not joking by the way."

"that's good to know i guess."

lydia can see how uncomfortable i look. that was a cute like, don't get me wrong, but it was just random. because i really don't know how to react. guys always tell you something, but they always mean another. i am actually already starting to catch feelings for zion. i am also pretty concerned because i have never caught feelings this early for someone. a real person, celebrities do not count. even if we do like each other, i wouldn't be his girlfriend right away, i need to get to know him inside and out before we move on to labeling.

lydia fakes an accident so i can hang up on zion. "ana, i need a little help. come in the bathroom please," she says.

"alright coming!" i fake.

"sorry zion, looks like this is going to take a while. i will see you on monday."

"alright see yo-" i immediately hang up on him.

"thank you for that," i tell lydia.

"no problem. but see, he likes you, i'm pretty sure he's trying to give you hints."

"okay but, what if he's just playing with me."

"then austin, nick, and i will beat his ass. no one, i repeat, NO ONE messes with my best friend."

"aw, and this is why i love you."
