Trey's (P . O . V)
Draft Day !
Nervous is what you can say I was. Tash and I flew out here to New York Tuesday night and my family came last night. Right now it was 5pm and I had to be out by 6:30 to head over to the convention center where the draft would be at.
"Bro you good? Don't be so nervous." Ant said.
Of course I had to bring my bro and sis out to support.
"Thanks man." I said dapping him up.
Kae and Ant walked out of our suit and went down the hall into their room so that they could also get ready.
1 hour later
What if I don't get drafted? What if I was just brought out here to be an embarrassment?
"Baby, stop thinking negative." Tash said to me. I swear she just read my mind.
I let out a sigh as she walked over to me fixing my tie and pecking my lips.
We made our way to the table reserved for us and sat down as the draft began.
David Stern, the NBA commissioner walked over to the mic to announce the 1st Draft pick.
"With the first pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks selected Trey Burke from University of California Los Angeles."
Those exact words changed my entire life.
I stood up from my seat and hugged my family and Tash as I stood to receive my hat. Walking up to the stage I was greeted by David Stern as we shook hands and took a picture, today was a good day.
Leaving the stage I was met with everybody outside in the hall cheering for me.
"Congratulations son, I'm so proud of you." My father said hugging me.
"So proud of you Trey." my mom said crying. I hugged her as she held on to me. We all took a family picture together.
"Congratulations bubz, I told you not to worry." Natasha said hugging me giving me a kiss.
"I know, thanks for being by my side." I said being honest.
"That's my job baby, I'm always gonna be by your side and that's a promise." Tash said.
2 hours later
We all were out at a restaurant for dinner and a little celebration. As we all ordered our food and held small conversations something felt a lil off with Tash.
"Can I talk to you outside real quick?" I said lowly so she could only hear. She nodded as we excused ourselves from the table.
Stepping out in the cool night time New York weather I pulled Natasha into me.
"What's wrong? You've been looking a little sad since we got in here." I said with concern on my face.
"I don't want you to leave me, you'll be out here in the East coast while I'm all the way on the other side." She said as tears began to fall.
Pulling her head up, I wiped her tears but they just kept falling. This is not what I wanted, I didn't want her crying, she has to understand that this is my career and that I have no choice.
I sighed.
"Natasha, it's nothing to worry about, we are always going to see each other. I can fly you out here and I can also fly out there with no hesitations. Baby you just have to understand that this is my career and that I have no say in who I play for, but what I want you to know is that I gotta do what I gotta do and that we're gonna be together regardless. I start practice in two months so we can spend as much as time as we can together. You can even come down here with me for some of my practice days, so please stop crying and smile for me."
