^this song is sort of irrelevant but listen to it while reading please. It's so true and it's from my favourite musical^
It was Monday, two days after Peter had ranted about everything and he was feeling quite guilty about it. They were getting the adoption papers and such sometime this week.
He felt as though Tony was only adopting him because he felt obligated to. It wasn't because he truly wanted to, it was out of pity. After all, who would want a broken son?
He thought this as he walked down the halls of the school. Ahead of him he spotted a girl he thought was amazing. Her name was Liz and he'd liked her for a few weeks now.
She of course was almost completely oblivious to his existence, the only exception being the debate team they were both on. He wasn't nearly as confident or popular as his web-slinging other half.
He often wondered what his life would be like if everyone knew. His thoughts drifted to May, pondering why she hadn't told anybody his secret. Maybe she's to ashamed.
He quickly abandoned these thoughts in the back of his mind, intent on not slipping into a depressive episode in the middle of the hallway. It was easy for him to abandon thoughts most times. This was probably because he found it difficult to focus on anything in general.
He was snapped out of his tunneling mind when he felt a presence coming up behind him. Turning around, he spotted his best friend, Ned, trying to make his way through the crowded hallway.
Once he caught up to Peter, he adjusted his backpack straps and smiled warmly.
"Hey, man. I was thinking of maybe hanging out after school today. There wasn't much homework assigned for classes.""Yeah that sounds cool. You'll have to come over to mine though. Otherwise your mom would see me and call May or something." The taller teen explained, averting his eyes from his crush who was stopped at her locker now.
Ned, not noticing his friend's reddening face, responded with great excitement. "Wait, really? I get to spend the night in Tony Sta-"
Peter's eyes widened and his hand flew up to his friends mouth with lightening-quick reflexes. "Ned, shut up! People don't know he's adopting me yet!" He harshly whispered.
A few people looked over as Peter's friend mumbled a "oh yeah sorry" through the hand covering his mouth. The two glanced around the hallway to make sure nobody had filled in the blanks and new about the situation.
Upon not seeing anyone wide-eyed or whispering to the person next to them, the two continued on towards their third hour classes. Ned, branching off towards his drama class, waved a goodbye to his friend, who was going towards creative writing.
He thought about what he would write today. Seeing as it was Monday, their assignment would be to write about something that occurred over the weekend and how it affected him.
I don't think anyone wants to hear about my weekend... Peter thought with a chuckle.
Arriving to the classroom, he took his usual seat in the back right corner next to a girl named Michelle.
They had been talking a bit more seeing as she was on the debate team as well. He learned she preferred to be referred to as "MJ".
