CHAPTER NINE

The last chapter has made me realize I will literally date anyone (I'm pan, meaning your gender is irrelevant to me. I only care about personality) and yet I'm still single asf and lonely😂

Peter's POV

I opened my eyes to the bright light of the morning sun shining through my open windows. I distinctly heard a few birds chirping outside. The previous night, I had a run-in with MJ and was feeling particularly happy. The fact that it was Friday, the last day before the weekend, also contributed to my giddiness. It felt as if I was in a fairy tale.

    My good mood supplied me with a boost of energy so I almost leaped out of bed and off to the bathroom to get ready for school. I played music and hummed along to the tunes as I brushed my teeth, fixed my hair a bit, and got dressed.

I basically skipped out to the kitchen some breakfast. Pouring my cereal, Tony, who was drinking his morning coffee, raised an eyebrow at me. I couldn't help but smile at his similar confusion.

"Well someone is in a good mood." Tony suggested with a light laugh. I simply nodded in response, pouring the cereal into my empty bowl.

"I had a good day yesterday. I ran into someone during patrol." I said, feeling my face burn with the thought of it. I continued to eat my cereal nonetheless.

    "...Who?" Tony asked apprehensively, but curious all the same.

    "MJ." I replied simply, taking another bite.

    "Ah," he began, understanding my giddiness. "and?"

    "We went on a sort of date thing?" I tried to hold back the smile and blush but of course, as usual, I couldn't.

    "Who? What? When? Where? You went on a date? Details!" Pepper bombarded with the clack of her high heels as she entered the kitchen.

    "Suddenly, school sounds like a really good idea. You ready Tony?" I said quickly, getting a bit embarrassed. I shoved more cereal into my mouth, almost emptying the bowl.

    We all simultaneously laughed lightly. "Hm... I don't know..." Tony pretended to be confused to stall. Pepper continued to stare at me with a wide smile on her face. I gulped down the milk in the bowl, rinsed it, and put it away in the sink.

    "Oh, shut up. I gonna go get my backpack and then we're leaving. 'Kay?" I said, already practically running out of the kitchen.

    I didn't hear a response but I didn't really care. I got to my bedroom, grabbed my stuff, and rushed back into the kitchen.

    "Wait who's taking me?" I asked, a bit confused, pointing between the two.

   "I can." They both said at the exact same time. "You can." They, again, said at the exact same time. We all once again laughed and I made a note in the back of my mind to remember this moment. Remember us, all being happy, together. Even in my good mood, I knew they never lasted long.

   "We both can. I wanted to go grocery shopping anyhow and Tony, you can help me pick out snacks. I don't know what you guys like." Pepper said, fixing the messy situation.

    Tony and I nodded and agreement. We went out to the garage and headed towards MidTown High.

    Upon arrival, I went into the cafeteria because the first bell hadn't rang yet. Once the clock struck 7:30, a wave of students poured into the halls. I kept my earbuds in and my head down, as usual.

    I reached my locker and received a good morning "hey penis!" from Flash, also as usual.

    I completely ignored it, knowing he couldn't affect my good mood. Ned approached me, as he did every morning. After chatting for a few minutes and mindlessly walking through the halls, MJ found us.
