I woke up the next morning with a giant knot in my stomach. I didn't feel good at all knowing that I, the princess, was going to take charge in an assault. But why me? I'm not smart, I'm not that strong, I'm not a leader. I'm just a spoiled little girl. All of my confidence left me within a second.
Jordan then busted into my room with his full suit of armor on. "c'mon, lets get down to the armory."
"Ok, hang on." I climbed out of bed, brushed my hair really quick, and changed into some short clothes. I stopped and looked at Jordan for a second before I walked out the door. I could tell that he saw the fear in my eyes. For that reason, he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and walked me to the armory.
There were two guards standing in front of the armory door. They didn't really seem to happy to see me and Jordan. "Out of the way, c'mon." Jordan commanded. They both squinted and stared down Jordan, but eventually moved. We walked in, only to see the whole armory packed with soldiers. There were going to be about a maximum of thirty soldiers in total. The city had about three-hundred soldiers overall.
I walked over to my station and suited up. I slipped the sword into my scabbard on my left hip and my bow and quiver onto my back. Most soldiers were having conversations with others and a couple sat at their station, contemplating this situation.
"Well, do you at least think that you're somewhat ready?" Jordan asked me. His station just so happened to be right next to mine.
"I would maybe have some higher confidence if I wasn't the only girl in the room." I pointed out. Jordan looked around, realizing that too.
"Don't let that fact get to you, you're the leader of these strong, brave men."
"Yeah, but so are you."
"That's only because I'm really powerful, secretly, but so are you." I couldn't deny the fact that we both were really powerful. Suddenly, my dad walked into the room.
"Alright, all of you listen up." He scanned everyone in the room as the noise began to die down. "You all know that Jordan and Nicky are in charge. Follow their every command and do NOT let anything happen to them. Do you all understand?" Everyone nodded their head. No one dared to speak. " If it's possible, I want you to take in Mack as a live prisoner. I wish you all good luck." And just like that, he was out of the room.
I looked back over to Jordan. "So, how are we going to do this?" I asked.
"We'll split us into three different groups since there's three different entrances." I hadn't really looked at the map of the complex yet. "Everyone gather around the table!" He commanded. We all circled a table with the map of the complex.
Just my luck.
"We're going to split into three teams. Alpha team will consist of me and-" He pointed to nine other guards, but not me. "Bravo team with have you-" He pointed to me and nine others. "And the rest will be Charlie team which will be the rest of you, you must pick a team leader."
He started examining the map like he just saw it too. "Alpha team, we'll kick down the i=side entrance on the left. Bravo team, you'll go through the back and Charlie team, you'll just have to kick down the front door." Everyone looked at each other. "Any question?" Jordan asked. No hands raised nor no one spoke. "Alright then, lets move boys, and girl," He said, looking at me.
We all walked down the roads and eventually reached the complex. It was a pretty decent size warehouse. Me and my team lined up at the back door, Alpha team went to the side and Charlie team just waited at the front. We all waited for the sound of Charlies explosives to detonate. There was a slight delay, but then, *BOOM.*
Everyone rushed into the building. It was dark inside. You could head the yelling of soldiers echoing throughout the building. We started clearing little side rooms and came up empty with a few. I entered one alone, sword drawn. Every room was dark. I could feel my hands shaking with terror, causing my sword to wobble a little.
I heard a noise inside the room. I looked around and saw a shadow fly across the wall. It got quiet. I looked around, trying to scan for anyone, but it was just too dark.
"Show yourself!" I yelled. Silence.
Suddenly, a terrible screech roared up in the room and I was tackled from behind. I tried to fight it off, but I was pinned to the ground. I somehow manage to turn myself onto my back to try and fight it. I had dropped my sword and it was laying right next to us, just barley out of reach. I finally looked whatever it was in the face. It was Mack. He kept trying to punch me repeatedly. He eventually disabled my face mask and started punching harder.
I kept putting my arm in front of my face, but it was to no avail. I grabbed Mack's head and suddenly, everything went black. I slipped into a dark void. I started walking, looking around. I saw circles all around. I was in Mack's memory. I saw all of the conversations with Kanthar. I saw...the physical and mental abuse he was put through. He didn't choose to do this. Kanthar had brainwashed him and threatened him. Kanthar.....killed his family. I snapped back out of it.
He ripped off a piece of armor that covered the bicep and tricep of my left arm. He actually bit into my arm. I screamed in agony as his teeth sunk into my flesh. Suddenly, he screamed in pain as I saw a sword pierce him right through the center of his chest. his arms went flying backwards with his fists clinched. He screamed for a couple seconds before dropping his arms and sitting on his heels and knees.
I saw a hand grab his shoulder and push his body to the side. I saw the face of a scared and worried boy. "You ok?" Jordan asked as he stuck out his right hand to pull me up. I stood up, grasping the bite on my arm.
"I think." I really didn't know if I was ok or not. I looked over and saw Mack's dead body just laying there. A poor, innocent boy, forced, abused, scared, dead. I had never felt so much sorrow and guilt in my life.
