I had never felt so much pain because of that night. It haunted me in my dreams. I had at least one nightmare a week. I could only think about what Kanthar did to that boy, let alone what he's done to others. He's slaughtered families, burned cities, murdered creators, he was a walking, living devil.
I saw Mack, on his knees, begging for my help. We were in a dark void. Kanthar was right behind him, sword in hand. Mack continued to beg and cry for my help, but it was no use. The sword pierced him like he was a stick of butter. "You're next" Kanthar said with an evil grin. He lunged at me and I quickly rose out of bed with sweat trickling down my face.
"Just another nightmare." I whispered to myself with a tear running down my cheek. I wiped my tear and decided to not go back to sleep. Instead, I got up and walked out onto the balcony. I looked out and to the stars where the moon also shone bright. I could hear the crickets in the distance as everything was at a stand still. There was no wind or breeze coming through. Suddenly, my door started to creek. I looked over with a gasp, it was just Jordan coming in. "What are you doing here?" I whispered. "Do you want me to have a heart attack?"
"No, a guard said he heard noises coming from your room. I just came in to check up on you." I let out a sigh of relief.
"Just...just a nightmare." I said as I turned back around and looked out to the stars.
"Are..you ok?"
"How could someone be ok if they just saw an innocent boy die right in front of them, huh?!" I whispered as I whipped my head back around in anger.
"Hey, he wasn't innocent, he was working with Kanthar, the guy who killed so many innocent others." Jordan argued. I still haven't told him what I saw inside of Mack, that I had gone into his memory. It was time though that I tell him.
"Have a seat." I said as I pointed my hand to my bed. I walked over and sat down next to him. At that moment, I came so close to just throwing myself onto him and just cry.
"You've been acting odd since that event, wanna tell me what's wrong about it now?" Jordan asked. Hopefully he would understand, I mean, he is a creator.
"I...I grabbed Macks head as he had me pinned." I said.
"Ok, what?" Jordan became so confused.
"I tried to use my ability and...it worked. I entered Macks memory bank." I said. I could feel myself tearing up as those images entered my brain once more. "He was just an innocent boy." I said right before the floodgates opened up. I started sobbing pretty hard into my hands. I felt Jordan's arm wrap around me.
"I...I didn't know. I'm so sorry you had to see that."
"He was so scared, abused, hopeless, alone. And we killed him!" I said, starting to sob again. I knew Jordan couldn't do anything. If anything, Jordan probably felt the guilt rush through him as he was the one who killed him.
"I've been having nightmares," I took a gulp "Almost every..night. It's burned into my head, Jordan." And I couldn't do anything about it. Jordan could only make attempts of comforting me. I wasn't going to tell my parents as they would then find me as weak and useless.
"This is why we must destroy Kanthar before he does this sickness to anyone else again." I started to stop crying for a bit. I rubbed my nose as I thought about things. I knew that I would have to train way more if I ever wanted to take on a defeat Kanthar. I wanted to personally execute him myself at this point.
"I want and need to train more." I demanded.
"Ok then, maybe that'll take your mind off things. When do you want to start?"
"As soon as possible."
"We'll start in the morning." Jordan said given the fact that it's the middle of the night and he didn't have any armor on, which I didn't question. He had on a white T-shirt, and black basketball shorts.
"On then. Wait, why did only you come into the room? Why didn't the guard come in?" I asked out of the blue.
"Because I'm lead guard. Only I'm permitted into the royal rooms unless under special circumstances." He explained. I mean, it did make sense. I'm sure my parents would just love some random guy or girl to barge into their room that they don't know, oh yeah, totally.
"That makes sense. Glad we have some common sense around here." I said, making Jordan chuckle.
"Well, I should let you fall asleep then, I guess." Jordan said, rising from my bed.
"No, could you stay as I fall asleep?" I asked, grabbing his arm.
"Mmmmmm, sure, I guess." I crawled back under my sheets and curled up against Jordan as he just sat on the edge of my bed. He laid his hand on my shoulder and I was immediately attacked by butterflies. I fell asleep just a couple minutes later.
I woke up the next morning. Jordan had obviously left so I was in my room, alone again. I looked at myself in the mirror, with my hair a mess. I sure hope it wasn't like that when Jordan came in last night. I fixed myself up, got dreses into short cloths again and went down to the first floor. I started making my way towards the armory to prepare for training. My dad stopped my halfway there.
"And where are you going?" He asked.
"Just to the armory to train with Jordan." I said politely.
"Train? Why train? Your mission is already over."
"I want to just prepare myself for anything." My dad smiled.
"That's my girl." He said as he rubbed my head. Great, I just fixed myself up and now it's probably ruined again, oh well I guess. He scooted along and I finally made it to the armory once again. Jordan was already there of course. Only he didn't have his armor on at all. He was sharpening his sword.
"Oh hey." He said as he saw me walk into the room.
"Hey."
"You ready?" He asked.
"Let me just slip on my armor and get my sword." I said. At that point, I realized that my sword wasn't there and that it was my sword that he was sharpening. He was laying on the ground next to him. He was siting in a chair with a sword sharpening kit. He noticed that I noticed and just gave me a big smile that said You're welcome.
I got my armor on and Jordan finished sharpening my sword. He handed me it and I felt fresh.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
We made our way back to the cliff to begin training again. This time, I would devote myself and give it all it takes. I knew that I would succeed in eliminating Kanthar.
