Connor's POV

I wake up and am instantly confused as to where I was. I look down and see a girl a little younger than me with her head resting on my chest. It's then that I remember what happened yesterday. I smile at Vivian's multicolored hair. I move slowly so I don't wake her and pull out my phone to check the time. It's three in the morning. I sigh and close my eyes. I wrap my arms tighter around Viv and slowly move her so we're in a more comfortable position. She's now in my lap and I have the seat reclined. I don't loosen my arms, but continue to hold her close to me. I bury my face in her hair and take a deep breath. Her hair smells like a mixture of lilies and strawberries. It reminds me of my mother, who was murdered right in front of me seven years ago. She always smelled like fruit and flowers. I sigh, shutting my eyes tighter. I'm suddenly extremely tired. Before I fall asleep, I have one last thought: I'm never going to let anything happen to Vivian. No one will ever hurt her again.

Vivian's POV

The bright sun in my eyes is what eventually wakes me up. The loud chirping of the birds helped as well, I'm sure. I sigh and lift my head to look up at Connor. I smile. I bury my face in his chest and take in his scent. He smells of sweet soap and salty sweat. Of cheap cologne and hard work. It's a comforting smell, just as the sound of his heartbeat was comforting to me last night. It's soothing now, too, but I'm too awake by now for it to lull me back to sleep. I lie there, fighting with indecision. I'm feeling restless and I want to get up and move around. But at the same time I don't want to leave the warmth and comfort and safety I feel lying here in Connor's arms. My decision is made for me when I hear someone enter the room. I close my eyes again quickly.

"Awe, aren't they cute?" I hear Jayy say.

"Adorable," Texas says. Texas is Jayy's boyfriend. There are beeps and a few flashes and I know someone is taking pictures.

"We woke up this morning and were welcomed by this sight. Viv is curled up asleep on the couch with her new 'friend' Connor. Isn't it just adorable?" Dahvie says. Shit, he's making a video! And I'm not liking the suggestive tone he used when he said friend. I still don't move though. I hear and feel the change in Connor's breathing.

"Don't open your eyes." I murmur softly. I don't know if he heard me, but it was worth a shot. Slowly, his arms tighten around me and he rolls onto his side, hiding me from the cameras. I smile and open my eyes to find that his eyes are open too. The guys can't see our faces. Connor is lying on an angle so he's partially on top of me. He braces himself, though, so we're barely touching. Someone walks closer, trying to get a shot of our faces.

"You're awake Connor. Your back is all tense." Dahvie says, happy that he found us out. Connor sighs and rolls over. I instantly curl up against his side again and he wraps an arm around me.

"Awe, so cute," Texas says, snapping another picture. I glare at him. Connor takes his phone out.

"Shit." He mutters.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"My foster mom has called me five times." He says with a sigh. He's only seventeen, so he still lives with his foster parents. He told us about his mother dying but never mentioned his dad. And I didn't really want to ask. I sigh as well and snuggle up to him some more. "Hun?" He asks.

"Yeah?" I answer.

"You gonna let me up so I can call her back and tell her where I am?" I sigh and roll away from him. He gets up and walks out of the room. I look up the video camera Dahvie has. I stand up and walk over.
