"I'm stronger than you think."
Roman furrowed his eyebrows at Damon's weak voice, he had been on his way out of town when he heard him from the cellar downstairs.
"You always have been. But you're not stronger than the vervain. And we both know it. I'm sorry. Didn't have to be this way."
Roman waited in the living room, seeing Stefan with a satisfied smile.
"What did you do?"
Roman questioned, Stefan went to answer when Roman held his hand up.
"Actually I don't want to know, because if I don't know I'm not held responsible."
Roman smiled as Stefan nodded.
"I just wanted to let you know I'm going out of town."
Roman told Stefan grabbing his car keys.
"What for?"
Stefan furrowed his eyebrows.
"To see an old friend."
Roman smiled softly as Stefan nodded.
"Be safe."❁
Roman sat at an old bar in Tennessee looking around.
He was waiting patiently to see the man he traveled so far for.
"My apologies Roman it took longer to get here than expected."
Roman smiled up at the man as he slid into the other side of the booth.
"No worries Elijah, you're here now."
Roman smiled.
"I'm sorry I haven't been in contact, Niklaus is breathing down my neck."
Elijah sighed as Roman leaned back in his seat.
"I told you Elijah, no need to apologies."
Elijah smiled thankfully at Roman.
"Are Kol and Rebekah-"
"Yes."
Elijah sighed as Roman nodded.
"I'm sorry I can't stay long my brothers will worry."
"What's wrong Roman?"
Elijah asked quietly as Roman shook his head.
"Nothing-"
"Don't lie to me Roman, I know you. Better then you know yourself at times."
Elijah whispered softly staring into Roman's eyes.
"My eldest brother is back in town. I don't know what he's planning to do but,"
Roman trailed off shaking his head.
"You could always come with me."
Elijah whispered grabbing Roman's hand.
"Elijah-"
Roman shook his head staring down.
"I know, you'll never leave your brothers, but when you're ready I'll be waiting."
Elijah smiled at Roman.
"You'd wait?"
"I'd wait an eternity."
Elijah told him softly with a serious expression.
"Thank you Elijah."
Roman smiled.
"I've told you plenty of times Roman, I'll always be here."
Roman nodded his head, Elijah's phone began to ring and he looked down with a sigh.
"That'd be Niklaus, I have to get going."
Elijah sighed.
"Send him my best."
Roman smiled softly.
Elijah nodded bringing Roman's hands to his lips and kissing the back of his hand.
"See you soon love."
"See you soon."❁
"You were gone for a long time."
Stefan told Roman as he came back to the Salvatore house.
"I told you I needed to see an old friend."
"Damon killed Zach."
Stefan said making Roman sigh.
"Of course he did."
Roman ran a hand through his hair trying not to let the sadness for his nephew creep in.
"Goodnight little brother."
Stefan smiled softly.
"Goodnight."
Roman smiled as Stefan turned to go to his bedroom.
"Stefan?"
"Yeah?"
"You know I love you right?"
Roman asked rubbing the back of his neck.
"I love you too brother."
Stefan smiled as did Roman.
Roman went to go to bed but a knock at the door stopped him.
"Elena hi-"
"What are you?"
"One of us should wake Stefan up for this conversation."
