Chapter 15: The monster of Helheim's Gate

(Normal pov)

The mist and distant roars kept the Vikings on high alert, they had net cannons at the ready, only used to subdue the dragons, they were victims after all. Hiccup's fleet was being towed by Ash, the King of Dragons suddenly surfaced and dragged the ships to the black sands of Helheim's Gate. Hiccup and Toothless landed on the sands and heard dragon hisses, that and the island itself seemed ancient and eerie, sending a chill down Hiccup's spine.

Hiccup turned to see the Berserker family land their Skrills, they examined the the massive mountain before them, Heather then eyed Hiccup. "Orders?" Hiccup looked at the mountain, after a few seconds of examination, Hiccup spotted patches of stone that looked worn down, Hiccup then turned to the Berserkers. "Only our best dragon riders are to engage whatever lives in that mountain, in the mean time, I want catapult fire there." Hiccup pointed to the mountains weak points, the Berserkers nodded and barked the orders to their men, Alvin and Savage has their men load catapults and fired at the weak points.

After three minutes, a mouth was created to the mountain, Hiccup patted Toothless and pointed toward the mountains mouth. "Bud, if you please." Toothless nodded and fired a superheated plasma bolt into the mountain, they opened their ears until they heard the distant explosion of the plasma bolt, then the roar of a massive dragon was heard.

::WHO DARES CHALLEGES ME!! WHO DARES CHALLENGES THE RED DEATH::

The dragons and humans alike winced at that... voice. Since bonding with dragons, the Vikings were able to understand their dragons and other dragons too; including Queens and Kings of Dragons. A massive cloud of dust erupted from the mouth of the mountain, the dragon riders and their dragons turned away and shielded themselves from the dust, that same roar erupted and suddenly the mountain spilled with what appeared to be the nests brood; dragons leaving in a hurry, in fear of their lives and the lives of their offspring.

Suddenly a massive snout bulldozed the mountain mouth, the Vikings eyes widened in shock, horror, awe and fear. This dragon looked like a monster from ones nightmares, it had a coral shaped mane with stylized tendrils that float like sea plants, and barnacle like scales. Its colors were light blue mixed with dark gray, and throughout this dragons skin, there were spatters of crimson throughout her hide, sides and her long tail that ends in round formation studded with sharp spikes, enabling the dragon to use as a mace or bludgeon.

::INSECTS! YOU WOULD CHALLENGE ME?!!::

Toothless barked orders to the dragons that backed them up, the riders tightened their grip on their saddles; ready for a bumpy and rough ride. Toothless fired the first shot, it connected to the Red Deaths face, causing her to roar in rage, she mouth filled with methane gas...

"MOVE!!!"

Waves of hell like flames spread throughout the beach, Alvin and the others made sure that their ships were at a safe distance, Ash wanted to step up, but Alvin shook his head. "Ash! No boy! Intervene only if they're in absolute danger." The Bewilderbeast purred in displeasure but nodded.

::AS YOU WISH::

Alvin nodded at the Bewilderbeast and then turned their attention back to the abomination of Helheim's Gate, Savage approached Alvin. "We've witness Haddock lead us to countless victories, what if he's finally met his match?" Alvin snorted at his second in command. "If Haddock is to fall this day, then we'll honor his cause and kill that monster and avenge Stoick's death." Savage looked unsure but nodded and turned their attention back to the battle.

(Hiccup's pov)

For a dragon of this size and calibre, it was very fast and deadly! This dragon did look old, I examined the ancient dragon for any weaknesses, I spotted several scars, possibly due to her size and bulk, she's had a hard time moving around in that mountain and the rocks in there must have given her those scars; some of them looked fresh.
