Chapter 16: The prodigal son returns

(Normal pov)

Astrid was watching the early morning sunrise, the hue of bright orange and yellow painted the skies and Astrid smiled at the sheer beauty of nature. Life for her the last five years has been challenging. Not only working tirelessly to bring the traitors down, but dealing with the dragons and avoiding marriage contracts. Yes, she was now twenty and was at the age to marry, if not earlier, but she wanted to save her love, body and soul for her true love, now that she knows he's alive, its now a matter of being patient and waiting for Hiccup's return. Her erotic dreams about Hiccup satisfied her fo the time being, but she didn't want to dream about Hiccup, she wanted to feel the warmth of his skin, the taste of his lips and laugh at his sarcasm. She brushed her lips with her finger tips and smiled just thinking about the reunion, she'd swear to cherish and savor it.

Her daydreaming was cut short when she spotted something moving in the water.

A dreadnaught came into view, Astrid quickly got to her feet, before she could sound the alarm, she noticed the ship was Viking origin, but the sails and colors grabbed her full attention. The colors were black, white and crimson, and the sails emblem was a Night Fury in the center with the symbol that represents a new chieftain.

She saw the ship land on Thors beach, Astrid grabbed her axe off the ground and made her way toward the unknown ship, she scaled down steep ground and hid behind a boulder that was mere feet from the dreadnaught class ship. Astrid then spotted a plank being dropped and... Outcasts? and Berserkers?!

She laid eyes on a girl her age, she had raven black hair done in a side braid, she wore black armor with spikes sticking out of the spine, forearms and boots, she had an axe strapped to her back, and she looked deadly. Astrid grabbed a horn strapped to her belt, ready to warn the village, but she stopped when she heard the raven haired girl speak.

"Hiccup is in critical condition, we need to get him to Gothi right now, or he's going to die!"

"I'm aware lass! But we can't just barge into Gothi's hut, we need someone to help us, and fast." Astrid laid eyes on Alvin the Treacherous and his man Savage. Astrid took a deep breath and removed herself from her hiding spot and approached them.

"Oi! Don't move!" Savage said, drawing his sword, Alvin slapped Savage on the back of his head and snarled. "No! She's a Hooligan! We'll need her help to get Hiccup to Gothi." Savage sheathed his sword and nodded. Astrid gasped as she saw Berserker soldiers carry Hiccup on a stretch and she nearly threw up at the sight of his... heavily bandaged stump.

Heather approached Astrid and placed hands on her shoulders. "You're Astrid Hofferson aren't you?" Astrid nodded. "Y-yes." Heather then spoke with firm urgency. "Astrid, we need you to take us to Gothi, Hiccup lost a lot of blood, and he's going into critical condition, can you take us to her?" Astrid looked at her beloved, who was moaning in agony and was shivering, then back at Heather.

"Follow me."

(Fifteen minutes later)

Astrid pounded on Gothi's door, after a couple of minutes, the door opened to reveal Gothi, she was about to hand signal whats the problem but the old woman was shocked to see Hiccup on a stretcher, and being carried by... Berserkers?

"Gothi, I'll explain everything, I promise, but I need your help to save Hiccup's life. Please." Gothi looked into Astrid's eyes, the blond shield maiden was on the verge of tears and the old woman understood the young Hofferson perfectly, it was obvious the two dated in the past, but obvious to only those who watched them closely.

Gothi, feeling compassionate, opened the door and let the Berserkers in and Astrid thanked the old elder, she smiled and nodded at Astrid, then she turned toward Hiccup. It was time to go to work.
