I returned to the shop. it should probably be done now.
"all done?" I asked.
"yea." he had the keys in his hands. I went to reach for them, but he movef . "you sure this your car, son?" he asked.
"yea." I answered.
He handed me the keys & I walked out.
I went back to Kerry's house.
"So what do we do now?" she asked.
"wait until then."
I called the number back.

Kerry made dinner and we watched the clock anxiously for it to finally be close to midnight.
"How faraway is the house from here?" Kerry asked.
"about 20 minutes."
"you should get going at 11:40."

I got up to put my shoes and hoodie on.
"be safe" Kerry whispered as I reached for the door handle.

"if Tia and I aren't back by 12:30.Call the police and tell them the house address."

I walked out the door & got into the car.
I took a deep breath before putting the car in drive.
I hope this all goes well.
I drove at the perfect pace so that I would be at the house on exact time. not too early, not too late.

There she stood. beside two boys. in the drive way.
