A few hours later I came back from chemo and Lincoln was still there. He was sleeping. When my nurse started talking to me, he woke up.

"You did really good." my nurse said.

"Thanks. I guess." I replied.

"Hey, little sister. How did you do?" Lincoln asked.

"Good, I guess." I replied and shrugged my shoulders.

"I am really tired so I am going to try and rest."

"Okay, I'm going to go get some food, you want any?"

"No, thanks."

When I woke up Lincoln was watching a soccer game. I coughed and he almost gave himself whiplash for whatever reason.

"Are you okay?" I asked him.

"Yeah." he said.

"You sure you don't have whiplash?" I asked him, laughing.

"Yes I'm sure." he said, rolling his eyes.

"Who's playing?" I asked him.

"Barcelona and Real Madrid." he said.

"I'm for Barcelona." I said.

"I'm for Real Madrid." he said. Of course. He loves Ronaldo. I have no clue why.

"Hey, do you want to go to the first game of the season in a couple weeks?"

"If I am feeling up to it."

Our new school starts about 3 weeks before our old school does. We have a soccer game the first week of school. I won't be at school, I will be doing all of my work online.

"School starts in a week and a half. They called mom and dad while you were sleeping."

"They were here?"

"No. They called."

"Oh."

I am excited to see how many new people I meet once I actually go back to school.

"What time is it?" I ask Lincoln.

"8:00"

"I'm going back to bed. I love you, big brother."

"Feel better, I love you little sister."

Apparently somewhere during that conversation a nurse walked in and was eavesdropping in our conversation.

"Aww, I wish my brother and I were close like you guys." she said. Lincoln and I just looked at each other.

"Thanks?" Lincoln and I said in unison..

"Are you guys twins?"

"Yeah." Lincoln said.

"Who's older?" she asked.

"He is. By a minute and a half." I said.

"I'm still older." he teased.

"I'm wiser." I replied.

This new nurse is kind of creepy. She is just eavesdropping on our conversation and staring at us.

"What did you need?" Lincoln finally asked her.

"I just wanted to see if she needed anything."

"Nope, she's good." he said.

And with that, the nurse walked out of the room.

"Thanks. I never would have been able to basically tell her to leave." I said.

"That's what big brothers are for." he replied, laughing.

I rolled over and eventually fell asleep listening to the sounds of whistles blowing, and commentators commenting on everything.

I woke up to my parents talking about how my brother needs to get out and do something and not stay in this hospital all the time.

"I just want to stay here with her and make sure she is okay, since you guys are only here for a little bit every day." Lincoln said.

"We can't help that we have jobs, and things to do." my mom replies.

"Dad is here for several hours every day. He is the only one that cares."

I turned my head and looked at all of them and they just looked at each other and then looked at me.

"How you feeling?" my dad finally asks.

"Like you and Lincoln are the only ones that care about my disease." I say then turn to look at my mom. She just shook her head at me and walked out of the room.

"There she goes again." Lincoln blurts out.

"I'm sorry Ryleigh, we've been here for a while, and we wanted to see you but you were sleeping. I have to go to work, and your mom needs to go to sleep."

"Okay, love you dad. See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow." he says.

"How much of that did you hear?" Lincoln asks me once my dad shut the door.

"Just that you are the only one that cares about me and that they are never here."

"Sorry, they just pushed me over the edge.. I get tired of them telling me I need to leave and go do my own thing."

"Its okay. I love you, big brother." I said. Lincoln got the biggest smile on his face and walked over to me and gave me a hug.

"I love you too, little sister." he said as he squeezed me tighter and tighter.

"Wanna go and get something to eat?" I ask him.

"Sure."

"Let me put something on that doesn't look like I haven't been out of bed in 27 years." I said, laughing.

Lincoln rolled his eyes. You can see the fear in his big blue eyes that something is going to happen to me. I kind of agree with my parents but I really appreciate him being here with me, too.

"What do you want?" Lincoln asked me.

"French fries."

"What else?"

"Umm, I don't know. Nothing. I'm not that hungry."

"Okay." Lincoln says with some hesitation.

The soccer game is in 5 days. I hope I feel up to going. I really want to be able to go with Lincoln. He is really looking forward to having me go with him.
