Chapter 9

On Edge

Jessica's Point of View.
I woke up feeling refreshed. I noticed though that I was in my room, not in the medical wing at the Avengers Tower.

"Hello Jessica.", said Ally. Ally was the nurse the hospital sent to help out my dad. "How are you feeling?"

"Much better than yesterday.", I said rubbing my eyes.

"Oh sweetie. You have been asleep for three days."

"What?" I shout up from my bed. "What do you mean?"

"That was some fever. But Peter explained to me everything about Power High and the water."

"Um...Power High?" Act like you are clueless. "Isn't that the school for super heroes or something like that?"

"Jessica." Ally sighed. "I know what Power High is. My parents even applied me for it." Ally has powers! "I just never went because I wanted to be a normal kid. I wanted to become a nurse so I could help people."

"Oh. What powers do you have?"

"I can resurrect people from the dead."

"That's cool."

"Not really." Ally sighed and then smiled. "Your friends Peter and Rosemary are waiting for you downstairs."

"Thanks Ally." I then got up and put some new clothes on and took a quick shower. I walked downstairs and both Peter and Rosemary gave me a big hug. "Hey guys!"

"Thank Rao you are ok.", Rosemary said.

"We were so worried about you.", Peter added on.

"I'm fine now." I then sighed. "Did you guys get sick?" Both Peter and Rose said no. "That is very strange. I calculated everything about the water system and nothing is wrong with it. But that was what got me sick?"

"Aunt Tasha got it examined and she said it was almost like a poison was in your system."

"Aunt Tasha." I thought Peter wanted to keep this a secret from Rose. "You mean Ms. Romanoff right?"

"Don't worry Jess.", Rose said. "Peter told me about him being the son of Iron Man. I was shocked at first but I then realized why he kept that a secret."

"Oh. At least I don't have to keep that a secret from you anymore."

"But I still have to keep it a secret from my dad.", Peter said lowering his voice.

"It seems like a lot of people are on edge today.", Rose said.

"What do you mean?", I asked.

"Well my parents came home from their annual Flash meeting two days ago looking as pale as ghosts. When I asked them what was wrong, they both exchanged glances and said nothing. Jack and Zack even said they heard that they were having nightmares that night." Rose sighed. "And when I said I was going over to your house to visit you, my partners nearly jumped out of their seats."

"That's weird.", Peter said.

"Yeah.", I said. "I thought nothing scared the famous Flash and Supergirl. They were so cool that people called them SuperFlash!"

"I know right.", Rose said. "And Jack and Zack both said to ignore it, but I know what will happen. Mom and dad will keep us on lock down and I will be treated like a baby, while my brothers get to go out help my parents save the world from what ever threat it's facing. No way am I letting that happen." Rose then pulled out a map of the school. "I did some research and there is a library there where you can get information on anything. I am going to do it, but I might needs your guys help."

"I'm in.", Peter said. "Maybe if I can do something heroic than I can prove to my dad to keep me in Power High."

"You know what, I'm in too.", I said. "If this villian had something to do with me getting sick, than I will definitely want to kick that guys ass." I than sat down on the couch with Peter and Rose. "How do we get in?"

"That's the sorta hard part.", Rose said. "We need a super hero clearance pass, which is only given to full super heroes who are either working or have graduated from the academy."

"Ok. So we will just have to swipe them from three heroes.", Peter said. "Which ones should we do?"

"Ones that can't travel at super speed and can't detect that someone traveling at super speed.", I said. "Are you ok with being our swiper, Rose?"

"Yeah.", Rose said. "I will be in and out in a flash."

"Ok. So we should meet at the school after hours. Rose will swipe the cards and then we can get in." I turned over to Rose. "Are there any other security precautions?"

"Not that I know of."

"I will use my spider sense if any other precautions are in place."

"Sweet.", I said. "So which heroes should we do?"

"How about we do these three?", Peter suggested. "Mick Rory. Nathaniel Heywood. Ray Palmer. All are from the Legends team and all will be clueless that there rooms are being searched for their cards."

"Those guys will work. We will do it tomorrow night."

"Breaking in and entering.", said Ally walking into the room. "Sounds fun but I have to take care of your father tomorrow night. Have fun!"

Ally than walked into the other room.

"She reminds me a bit of my brother.", Rose said.

"Ugh.", I said annoyed. "Don't remind me."
