"Holy shit. Elephants have huge dicks."
"Y/N, please don't ever say that again."
"What? It's true; look at the TV."
"No, I see it, but you don't need to say it."
"You're just mad it's bigger than yours."
"Y/N!"
I wave a hand dismissively in Keith's face as he flushes red and look back at the TV. We were watching an Animal Planet special on animals in Africa. When we watched TV together, it was usually a movie or a series we were invested in. However, for the past few nights, we've been watching whatever was on while we snuggled because I had to fly to Japan for work.
Keith and I wanted to spend as much time together as we could before I left for almost a month. It would be hard on us both, but especially hard on a person who felt most at ease around the person they loved like Keith.
When I first told him about it, he was completely fine with the prospect. But now that I had to leave in two days, he was a nervous wreck. A combination of being worried about my safety and the loneliness of us apart made him upset about the upcoming day. But until then, we spent every second we could together.
I lean onto Keith as I stretch out under the blanket, a leg falling of the couch. He groans as I put my weight on him, but slips an arm around my waist regardless. We watch the highly disturbing (and oddly sexual), segment on elephants before a commercial break comes. I stand, my hands on my hips like I'm on a mission.
"I'm making coffee!" I announce and turn to Keith, pointing a finger at him.
He smiles while raising an eyebrow,"Why are you talking like a commander?"
"Because I can! Anyways, do you want some?" I ask, still using persona. He chuckles and nods, turning his attention back to the screen as the quick commercial ends.
"Right!"
I skip to the kitchen, sliding through the doorway on my socks, and start to make coffee. I open the cabinet and search for our favorite mugs, frowning as I can't find them.
"Dishwasher?" I question aloud to myself as I open it.
"Dishwasher." I say approvingly, nodding my head as I spot them, droplets of water still on the sides.
I pull mine out and nearly drop it as I hear a loud thumping noise coming closer. I snap my head toward the open doorway as Keith comes barreling in.
"Y/N! BABE, COME HERE AND LOOK!" He coaxes loudly, excitement all over his face.
I set my mug on the counter and start walking. My pace however, is too slow for him as he grabs my wrist and drags me to the living room.
"Oh my God, what is so-"
"Y/N LOOK AT THE HIPPOS! AREN'T THEY CUTE?" Keith exclaims in delight, pointing at the TV while bouncing on his toes.
I stare dumbfounded at the screen, playing a scene of a hippo herd in water. I mean yeah they're cute, but is he really this excited over animals? I turn my gaze to Keith, watching him jump in excitement and anticipation. Yes, he is. I smile and nod, wanting him to be happy.
"Yup, they're super adorable." I agree, kissing his cheek. He nods his head vigorously, his excitement growing.
"I KNOW!" Keith says before gasping,"CAN I HAVE ONE?"
He instantly turns to me and gives me a pleading look. I roll my eyes and shake my head, laughing.
"No, Keith. We can't have a hippo." I say with a smile, starting to turn back to the kitchen.
