Aries walked around the base, constantly fiddling with the dog tags she had been given. "As of now, you are on your own. Good luck, soldier." was the last line spoken to her from the strike commander. Great. Already, Aries was annoyed with this place. Some ignored the new recruit, while others... Not so much. Though constantly, she would hear whispers. One of which, she never thought she would hear again.

"Ain't that Blackjack!?"

In which Aries would murmur British insults in return. Aries got that nickname when her lie was leaked for a month, then everyone swore to keep it a secret. Everyone told her she was 'gambling her life away,' which resulted in the nickname Blackjack. It was something that the teenager absolutely hated, but she knew it was truly her own fault. Nothing would be truly more of a punishment... Than this. Being forced into active duty... It was terrifying for the rookie.

Though, she was more annoyed than anything. That damned name popping up in conversations, and just forcing her into annoyance. Aside from this, the base was quite nice. Aries got to her room, and she was paired with no one. To the teenager, this was extremely fortunate, as she wanted to be alone.

The girl settled herself in, all alone. This was not something she was  used to; being alone. Already, it was hard to get used to. It was a great thing that her phone was solar powered, as she had built it that way. Rather, she modified it to be this way, as it made everything so much easier for her. With a pang of sudden sorrow, Aries sat on her bed. A pop up holograph screen showed up in front of her, asking her to sign in. Rather, it said "Crawford, Aries" with a small box under it that said 'Check in.'

After clicking the box, it gave her instructions to immediately report to the rookie training grounds. There were located right outside of her building, building A. Catching on, Aries concluded that letter ranks were based on your military rank... How fun. Exiting the building, Aries immediately got onto the training grounds. The soldier rookies were aligned by alphabetical order, putting Aries in the third row.

It wasn't long before they straightened the rows and such. Most of the people here were men, a little taller than her. Being 5'7 for a woman was a slight advantage to anyone shorter than her. With everyone ready, they started with attendance, then exercises, which were closely timed together. Aries wasn't the best, but she was pretty alright for someone who had no muscles. Surprisingly, she was pretty strong with every area of muscles, she just never showed it.

Within 30 minutes, they had done 20 different techniques and exercises to go along with said techniques. They were all brought to an outdoor shooting range, and all given pistols to start with. 'Rather wimpy, isn't it?' she thought, rolling her eyes. All 18 rookies were in separate stalls in the range. They were all told to shoot and empty their entire mag. After so, they were taught to reload and how to work the gun.. It was going to be a long training session.

/1 hour passes/

Aries was back in her room, and honestly... It made her exhausted. Shooting, and exercise, and being yelled at, and whatnot. Lights out was around 8 PM, and Aries was ready. After showering with every other female in the building, she immediately went back to her room and crashed. For a month, this was how every day in the base went. That was, until...
