{Hey hey, all. I am so sorry for the lack of updating... My toddler sister was in the hospital for appendicitis, and we are finally back on schedule. Here's a long chapter for your troubles.}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Almost as quickly as Aries had jumped from the carrier, she was on the ground. Breaking her fall and disconecting from her chute, she rolled into position. Other soldiers rushed past her, and she followed them. If Aries had learned anything whilst being trained, it was to always follow her peers if she fell behind. The only reason she was an exception for falling back was the attack in King's Row.

Aries shook her head, attempting to shake her thoughts. They clouded her brain as a Sunday mist would on a humid afternoon. Physically, she was shaken, as a fellow soldier pulled her along. "Right, right. Sorry." The apology was murmured more to herself than anyone else. Already, this was something the girl couldn't stand. It had not even begun, and she was mortified.

Taken off guard, a whistling sound whizzed right by her face. The air was hot on her skin, as she felt its presence disappear. The battle had begun, and Aries brought up her gun. Not but a few seconds later did she spot the model E-54 bots, trotting up the hill. Clearly, they were not going to surrender. Hundreds followed the first, and Aries realized that this was war. Completely aware, she and the other soldiers raised their guard. One shot was all it took.

They began open fire, from both sides. Both human and machine fired upon one another. It seemed the machines had more than one configuration, which threw the soldiers off guard. "Machine guns! Config one, continue open fire!" To this, Aries fired upon every machine t=she could muster the courage to confront. How much longer that the girl could keep up was in question. Her body was completely numb, and she was extremely apathetic to killing the robots.

"If a bloody machine is to kill loved ones, kill the damn things!" The girl growled in response to the open fire. Just as it had been yelled, a blood curdling scream slithererd its way up the spines of others. At this, the medic was called. "Doctor Zeigler!" Even at a mention of this name, Aries knew. Someone was already dying. Doctor Angela Zeigler... She was the soldiers' medic. A Swiss woman with a PhD, she could patch up anyone, if she tried hard enough.

Caught off guard, it was only moments later when a bullet flew right thru the fabric of Aries' pants. 'Definitely shredded...'  Were the first thoughts in her head. Immediately, on an impulse, did she realize she needed to reload. "Falling back!" The girl announced, quickly hiding down in the grass. As she grew ready, Aries noticed the sounds... Gunfire, screams, the screeching machines, everything, It hit her all at once, and everything flooded her senses. She was so... It was... Overwhelming.

It was more of a panicked response, as she quickly loaded the gun and stood. This was an attempt to make this situation clearer, as she hurriedly began shooting again. It had gone unnoticed that she acted on impulse, not noticing how many of the mechanical lives she was taking. On the other hand, this was something Aries had not kept in mind. The girl was scared and upset, but she was also very vengeful. She was doing this for the sake of her family, and for everyone that was lost in the attacks.

Aries just simply refused to leave the battlefield without her vengeance. Within an hour, the first waves of the bots were fired down. The soldiers were settled in the woods, and were sat down for a moment of peace and silence. Already, many of the soldiers were lost today. The Swiss doctor could not treat them all, a shame to the others. The rest of Overwatch was currently on the lookout for the next wave of machines... So far, nothing. Which was good, for the soldiers, since they were all exhausted.

Today, Aries would leave with many marks, forming scars, bloodstains, and shredded clothes. Simply, the first day was expected to be this way. The first day, first week, first month... As time would go one, the soldiers would continue to grow and get better. On the other hand, it was expected, as they wanted to survive. Fighting the omnics were mixed ranks... Rookies, real soldiers, lieutenants, commanders, and even Overwatch themselves. The omnic crisis would continue to be a problem...

And even with the same old soldiers, they knew how to fight. Aries, after this day, was silent. Many questions were asked of her, especially from the people that knew her secret. A 16-year-old fighting in the way was nothing they expected, and everyone showed great concern for the girl. Of course, no sort of response was given from the freckled girl. She was stuck in a constant fear, a constant feeling of regret. Aries felt as if it were too much to handle, though kept it locked up in her head. She felt that nobody should have to deal with her problems, especially since they were all in the situation.

With occasional reluctant sighs and a tugging feeling of fear, Aries continued on. It was something she attempted to forget, but.. She just couldn't shake the feeling. The sounds of gunshots and screams... It only took a moment for Aries to grow confused... Why did she remember everything so.. Distinctly? She was nowhere near the battlefield...
