she had stars in her eyes,

that glowed brighter with each day,

and they envied her light,

but of her dark secrets, had little to say.

for her light was so vibrant,

that they all claimed it was a shock,

when one day she faded,

on a cold night, when she finally gave up.

but what they didn't know,

was that the stars in her eyes were cracked.

and the light that shone so bright,

was the warning before all of her stars collapsed.

darling, they watched her self-destruct,

envying her agony.

because they say true beauty comes with pain,

her stars? were but her dying sanity.
