Ece was rushed into the emergency wing, her mother and Yagiz following suite.

"I'm sorry, you cannot come in right now. Let the doctors and nurses do their job." One of the hospital porters advised while blocking them from entering the room.

Fazilet collapsed on the bench outside the operating theater. It felt as if the room was spinning around her. Her baby was bleeding out and there was nothing she could do. Fazilet caught of glimpse of Yagiz's hand and nearly half his sleeve covered in Ece's blood. Fazilet knew that ultimately Yasin was responsible for what happened to Ece. But if Yagiz hadn't been sneaking around with her daughter they would have never been in this situation.

"Yagiz bey, are you still going to deny you've done nothing with my daughter. After all of this! If Ece dies in there I swear to God as my witness you'll die at my hands!"

Yagiz was still stunned, he stood speechless. The stench of blood of wafting up from his arm stung his nostrils . He felt sick to his stomach. If it wasn't for Ece he could have died. Yasin had aimed square at the left side of his chest... but Ece took the bullet for him. Why? Why?

"Why!" Yagiz screamed out and punched the wall in front of him in frustration. Why would she risk her life for him? She was young, her life had barely begun, now she might lose it all because she tried to save him. No! All because of the son of a bitch Yasin. Yagiz didn't know if Ece would make it out of hospital alive, but he knew one thing for sure: he would make sure the only light that scum ever sees is the one inside his jail cell.

Yagiz's anger turned into despair the more he thought about Ece. 'She's can't die' he thought. She was almost like a sister or cousin to him. He had formed a connection with her over the past few weeks, bonding over their misery, sharing laughter, sharing tears. Yagiz's body felt so numb that he hadn't noticed the tears streaming down his face.

"Don't you dare cry for her!" Fazilet spat at his face. "You have no right to cry for her! This is all your fault."

"Fazilet hanim I..I.." Yagiz was at a loss for words. Sure it was Yasin who pulled the trigger. It was Ece who jumped in front of him. But maybe it was his fault. Maybe he could have done more to keep his distance from Ece. But all those times they were together he couldn't just leave her helpless. Though truth be told, there was a part of him that craved the comforting feeling she brought him. Focusing on her problems let him forget about his own. There was certainly something to be said about that pure laughter and wholesome smile. To think, because of him, that laughter might not exist ever again. Yagiz sat on the floor next to the operating theater door feeling too ashamed to sit on the bench near Ece's mother.

Yagiz had never been a religious man, but he found himself praying for Ece "Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim, oh Allah, the Mighty, please protect Ece from all evil and all ill. Bless her with your healing light. " the words were caught in his throat as he felt his body begin to tremble from his cry "don't let her die, please. I beg you of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Generous."

Fazilet and Yagiz sat outside for half an hour nervously waiting on anyone to give them news. Soon a doctor came out of the theater.

"Are you the girl's family?" Yagiz and Fazilet both jumped to attention.

"Yes, I am! I'm her mother."

"And you?" the doctor looked at Yagiz.

"He's no one." she glared back at him.

"Please come inside." he invited Fazilet in to see her daughter. Yagiz tried to tail behind her but was stopped by one of the nurses.

"I'm sorry sir, only family members are allowed into the theater."
