There was a quiet knock on my door before Brendan walked in. “I got you a gains bowl,” he said. “I figured you were hungry.”

“Thanks,” I croaked.

“Do you want me to get you something for your throat?”

“No, I’m fine.”

“Okay.” He walked over to my bed and set the bowl on my table. “Alyssa and all the boys are downstairs if you want to go see them.”

“No, not right now.” I propped my hand up on my chin and continued looking at my bed. “How do I know if I can trust him? I want to, but, Chance happened and I can't go through that again, Brendan. I want to believe him but you know that’s the same story Chance had, and I can’t.”

“Look,” he said, sitting down beside me. “You and Jonah have had a better relationship in the past three months than you and Chance had for two years. If there is anybody in this entire house you should trust, it’s him.”

“How do you know?

“He’s a mess, Mikayla. He hasn’t eaten anything or slept at all. Every night he has slept outside your door because he doesn’t want to intrude your personal space and wants to give you time but at the same time he can’t stand the fact knowing that you’re upset and he’s the cause for it. He loves you Mikayla. And I know he says it every day but I don’t think you know how serious he is. There is no way he could ever hurt you, don’t let your past change that.”

“Thanks B,” I said, wrapping my arms around his neck. “I don’t know what I would do without you sometimes.”

“Yeah, I know. I am pretty great,” he joked. I smiled and he got up and left the room.

“He's downstairs, Mikayla,” I thought. “Just go talk to him.” I slowly stood up and walked over to my door. I opened it and walked down the stairs and into the living room. Everyone was sitting on the couches, aside from Jonah. He was sitting in a chair not talking to anyone.

He glanced over and saw me. ”Mik,” he whispered.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me. “Hey,” Alyssa said, standing up and walking over to me.  she gave me a hug before saying, “We’ll leave you two alone for a few minutes.”

“Remember, Jonah is not Chance. You’re going to be just fine,” Brendan whispered as he walked past me.

I gave him a smile then looked over at Jonah. I walked over to the couch and sat down. “Hey.”

“H-hey,” Jonah stuttered.

“Come on,” I said, patting the spot next to me.

He smiled before moving beside me and grabbing my hand.

“I’m sorry,” I said.

“You have nothing to be sorry about.”

“Yeah, I do. I completely locked you out of my life the past two days without giving you a real chance.”

“I know, but I deserve it.”

“No, you don’t. It wasn’t your fault. I was just thinking that every boy is the same and that the same thing that happened with Chance is going to happen to you. He had the same story but it was all lies, and Jake knew about it the entire time.”

“I’m sorry, Mikayla.”

“Mik,” I corrected.

He smiled and I laid my head on his shoulder. “I know you’re not Chance, but I just had that feeling-”

“Of déjà vu, and you didn’t want it to happen again,” he finished.

“Exactly.”

“I understand, I would feel the same way if I was you. Its okay if you don't want to-”

“You’re not him,” I cut Jonah off. “I realize that now. Jonah, I just want to go back to how we were before all of this.”

“I do too, but you know just as well as I do that even though we both want it that way it’s going to take some time.”

“I know. And I’m willing to take as little time as possible for us to be back to normal.”

“Me too.”

I looked at Jonah and kissed him. “I didn’t realize how badly I needed that.”

“I didn’t either until now. You’re my girl, Mik. That’s not going to change any time soon.”

TALK COMES OUT TONIGHT AND IM HYPE. I'm also proud of me bc so far I've managed to not hear it (I live in the US and it is already released in some parts of the world) and I literally left a bc because one girl kept sending video clips of it and everyone was listening to it (i feel its disrespectful to the artist of you purposely listen to a song that has not been released where you live yet) and I didn't want to put up with them so I left
