“And this was when he went on a trip in seventh grade,” Esther said, pointing to a picture on the left.
“Oh my gosh, he’s so cute,” I said.
“What ya guys doing?” Jonah asked, sticking his head into the room.
“Nothing,” Esther said, slamming the photo book shut.
I had been with Jonah and his family the past two days. Me and Esther hit it off immediately and have basically become best friends. I’m still not sure why we never talked before now.
Anyways, his entire family is super sweet and it’s safe to say they’re my second family.
“Right,” Jonah said warily. “Hey, E, can I talk to Mik for a minute?” he asked.
“Yeah, sure,” she said, standing up. “We’ll finish this later,” she whispered to me, nodding at the photo album.
I smiled and nodded my head and she left the room.
Jonah walked in and sat down on the bed beside me. “Me and you are going somewhere tonight.”
“Where?”
“You’ll see. It gets super cold at night, so dress warm.”
“Okay?”
Jonah smiled and kissed my lips. “Trust me, you’ll love it. We’ll leave here at 11:30,” was all he said before getting up and leaving the room.
I shook my head and stood up, walking over to my suitcase. I pulled out a pair of leggings and a long sleeve shirt. I also pulled out a pair of jeans to put over the leggings and the sweatshirt I’ve had since the first day me and Jonah met. I laid everything out on the bed and went downstairs where everyone was.
“Oh, Mikayla. I was just about to call you to say that dinner was ready.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Frantzich. Your cooking is some of the best.”
“Thank you, but I've told you, call me Carrie.”
“Right, I’m sorry Carrie. Do you need any help taking stuff to the table?” I offered.
“If you could grab that bowl right there that would be great,” She said, pointing to a red bowl.
I picked it up and followed her into the dining room. I set the bowl down on the table as she called everybody else, Jonah arriving first.
Everybody took their seats around the table and we all prayed before eating our supper.
-
“I’ll take that,” Jonah said, grabbing my phone out of my hands.
“Hey, I was talking to Lyssa.”
“Alyssa knows that you’re not going to have your phone for the rest of the night. Now, get changed, we’re leaving in 15.”
I stood up and grabbed the outfit I had laid out earlier. I quickly changed before walking out and meeting Jonah in at the bottom of the stairs.
“I’m taking the truck out,” Jonah yelled. “We’ll be back later tonight.”
“Okay, just don’t crash my truck!” Tim called after us.
“We won’t dad.” Jonah grabbed my hand. “Ready?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
-
We pulled into an empty field about 15 minutes later. Jonah drove into it for a minute until parking it near a large tree.
“Where are we?” I asked.
“Where you see the stars,” he replied.
I smiled and looked up, suddenly noticing the clear sky with bright orbs dotting it. I also noticed how cold it was.
“Here,” Jonah said, tossing me a blanket. He dropped the tailgate and laid out another blanket in the bed of the truck. He also pulled out a few pillows and laid them out.
I climbed up with him and we laid down under the thick blankets. “So, this is what it’s like?”
“Not all the time, but it is always a perfect night when I need it to be.”
“It’s absolutely stunning,” I said, looking up. I snuggled closer into Jonah’s side and he wrapped his arm around me. “A lot better than I thought it would be.”
“This is where I always come to star gaze. I usually sit under that tree,” he said, pointing to the large oak tree beside us, “but it’s a little too cold to sit on the ground.”
I laughed and smiled. “I love it. It’s so relaxing.”
“I remember the first time I saw you. I was at Starbucks and you were sitting at a table on your phone. I wanted to go and talk to you, but neither one of us was really paying attention and we ran into each other. So, I gave you that hoodie-” he pointed to the one I was wearing- “to hide the stain on your white shirt.”
I nodded my head and smiled at the memory. “I’m surprised I was able to get that stain out,” I said, recalling the many hours I spent on that shirt because I didn’t want to have to buy a new one.
“And then we met again at the movie theater because neither one of us was too fond of the horror movie our friends decided to watch.”
I smiled, remembering the nearly one-hour conversation we had outside the movie theater. “And then we saw each other at Logan’s and that is when you discovered he was my cousin and I discovered you were in that boyband he couldn't stop talking about.”
We were interrupted by loud bangs and pops. We looked up and saw fireworks lighting up the sky.
“Hey Mikayla,” Jonah said, moving my chin towards him with his finger. “Happy new year.”
“Happy new year.”
This year was started off with a kiss from the person I love most.
This past year was probably the craziest year of my life, and I couldn’t wait to see what the new year had in store.

One more to go😭
-as you probably know, I am making a new fanfic after this one is over! It is called Alexa and is a Corbyn Besson fanfic. I will start uploading chapters next week? Or maybe this week idk but I am posting the intro/characters after I upload chapter 72 of this book. Here is the teaser/description thingy.
"I heard that he hides because he's actually famous."
"Really? I heard that none of his family knows what he looks like."
"I've heard that someone tried to take his hood off once and nobody knows what happened to them after that."
-
These were the things said about Corbyn Besson; the boy in the hood. What he looks like? Nobody knows. Not one person has seen his face in the two years he's been in Palmview, Florida. He keeps to himself and he ONLY talks to Jack Avery, his best friend. That's the way it has always been. You stay out of his way, he stays out of yours.
Alexa Williams; not mean, not nice, not popular, not a loser either. She's just... there. And when the two get paired together for a project, she is determined to crack the barrier of this mystery boy who hides behind the hood.
Then you throw a cute delivery boy into the mix and you just have a disaster waiting to happen.
