Jonah's POV

"Can I push the cart?" Daniel asked.

"No, let me push the cart." Jack grabbed the cart and pushed Daniel out of the way.

"You always lose at Mario Kart, let me push the cart." Daniel took Jack's hand off of the cart and replaced it with his own.

"That game is all luck, there's no skill involved in Mario Kart," Jack argued.

"Excuse you." Daniel put a hand on his chest in mock offense.

"Alright, enough, none of you are pushing the cart, I am. Jeez, you're like children." I yanked the cart away and started pushing it towards the candy isle.

"Fine, but we get to both pick out one snack, and you're paying," Daniel said.

"If you'll both shut up and help, I'll get you some fucking snacks," I sighed in defeat.

"Language," Jack mumbled under his breath. I shot him a glare. "Okay, fine."

"Alright now, Daniel tell me what candy Mikayla likes. Jack, can you go get some microwave popcorn from the next isle," I said.

"Okay, but I want some when we get home," Jack replied as he wandered into the next isle. Daniel dumped a bag of gummy bears in the cart.

"She also likes those chocolate covered pretzels. Hold on I'll go find some, can you get some string lights, I can handle the candy," Daniel said, grabbing a bag of kisses off the shelf in disgust. "Ugh, chocolate." He dropped the bag into the cart.

"This place has string lights?" I replied skeptically.

"Dude, it's Walmart, they have everything," Daniel replied. "Check somewhere over there or ask someone."

I wandered around the superstore until finding an employee. "Excuse me, uh, can you show me where the string lights are?" I asked.

"Of course, follow me," she said after a moment. Her short figure led me to an isle near the back of the store. "They should be somewhere over here...what was your name?"

"Jonah" I replied.

"Hi Jonah, I'm Jessica," she replied cheerfully, looking up at me. "What brings you to Walmart? A quick trip, or shopping around?"

"Well, actually I'm just picking a few things up," I replied.

"Oh, do you have to do anything else today?" Jessica asked.

"Uh, yeah, I'm having a movie marathon tonight." I scratched his neck in discomfort as realization dawned on me.

"My shift ends soon, could I join you?"

"Well, um, I-" I stuttered.

"MOVE AWAY FROM THE TREE. MISS, I NEED YOU TO STEP AWAY FROM THIS GENTLEMAN RIGHT THERE." From down the aisle, Jack pushed the cart while Daniel rode in the basket. The blue-eyed boy pointed at Jessica as he hopped out of the cart. "I SAID STEP AWAY." Daniel yelled.

"Dude, what are you doing...?" I looked back at the two in awe.

"Saving you, duh. The string lights are on the other side of the store." Daniel held up a small box and dropped it back into the cart. "I pointed it out to you, why are you over here?"

"Well, I asked a worker and she said...they were...over...here." I looked at Jessica in confusion.

"I'm new, I thought they were over here," Jessica said innocently.

"Well Jonah, Mikayla will be very disappointed," Daniel scolded.

"Who's Mikayla?" Jessica asked.

"His girlfriend," Daniel replied simply.

"What are you talking about, we aren't dat-" I gave Daniel a look of confusion.

"YOUR GIRLFRIEND WOULD BE VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU." Jack yelled, blocking me out.

"If she's so disappointed, maybe he should find someone new." Jessica looked up in admiration.

"We aren't even dat-" I furrowed his brows in confusion.

"Mikayla, YOUR GIRLFRIEND, is waiting for you Jonah," Daniel yelled.

"Ugh, whatever, here, if you ever wanna have a 'movie' night with me instead." Jessica slipped a piece of paper in Jonah's pocket and patted his chest twice before wandering off.

"That was close dude," Jack sighed in relief.

"What do you mean close? We aren't dating," I exclaimed.

"Yes, you are. Have you seen yourselves when you guys are together?" Jack said.

"What are yo-"

"Never mind, I already got the string lights, and Jack got the popcorn, let's just go pay and get away from that girl already." Daniel glared back where Jessica stalked off. "You better burn that paper when we get home."
