COMMENT WHAT YOU THINK BECCA AND LYSSA SHOULD WEAR FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!
Becca stares at me the rest of class, but I refuse to give her any details afraid that I might say the wrong thing and make everything worse. When the bell rings I have no choice but to face her and tell her something.
"Lyssa," she says linking arms with me, "you know I'll get it out of you eventually, so just tell me now."
I take a deep breath and blow it out slowly as I follow her to her locker.
"Let's just say that it's not going to work out."
"Why not?" she asks unlinking arms with me for a crowd of people to pass through us.
She gives me a motherly glare when we reconnect and I crack.
"He's just so moody and I don't think that he actually likes me. I'm not going to play games with the player."
I stare at her as she puts in her locker combo hoping that was enough.
"Well, if you think so...besides you don't need a boy. Girls are much better."
She gives me a wink and it takes me a second before realization creeps over me.
"Oh..." I say nodding my head. "You mean like romantically?"
She laughs letting her curls bounce as she throws her head back. She slams her locker shut and links arms with me again on our way to our next class.
"Duh," she finally says.
I smile at her sudden burst of honesty and willingness to tell me something so private.
"So," I ask leaning into her ear. "Have you dated any girls in the past?"
She pulls away rolling her eyes playfully.
"Yes," she says. "Boys too."
"Oh, okay. Cool," I say. "I dig that."
"Really?" she asks curiously.
"Yeah, of course. I mean..." I trail off suddenly aware of everyone that could be listening to our conversation.
When we make it inside the classroom I sit down and start to pull out my stuff.
"You mean what?" she asks, referring to my previous statement.
"Nothing," I say avoiding her gaze.
"Just tell me," she says leaning across my desk.
I huff and look around the room. In barely a whisper I give her the first personal piece of information I've given out in ages.
"I mean I dig it too," I said, emphasizing the too.
Her eyes grow wide and she smiles.
"Well, I'm excited to be the first person you've told."
"What?" I ask shocked by her response.
"I mean, clearly I'm the first person you've told that your bi. But I'm happy that you're coming to terms with your true self. That's awesome."
She smiles and I smile back. Wow, I guess I've never really considered my sexuality, but I guess she's right, I don't really have a particular preference when it comes to gender. She turns back around and I gaze around the now filled room to find an angry looking Ryder sitting in the back of the class.
Scared, I turn back to face the front and lean on my elbow to try and block my face from his view. Dammit, I forgot that we had history second today. I huff and unlock my phone to try and distract myself. A text from Ash pops up and I open it.
Ash: "Hey Lys, the car is ready for you. You know the one that Mikey said you could borrow?"
"Omg! Yes! When can I get it?"
"Whenever, it's here at the shop. I'm not working today, but Eric has the keys inside the office and he can help you."
"Okay! Thank you so much, seriously. I owe you big time!"
"No worries sis, anytime. xx"
I lock my phone and pay attention to the front as the class begins. When the bell rings and I get up to leave, Ryder is already gone. Ugh, Lyssa why do you care so much? He's gone. That's good.
The third period goes by quickly and I meet Becca outside the caf for lunch.
We stand in line for lunch and my stomach growls at the sight of the steaming cheesy goodness behind the counter.
"Yes," I sigh. "Mac-N-Cheese."
"What? No way! Yes!" Becca says looking around me to catch a glimpse.
We take our seats at an empty table in the corner of the caf away from any of the popular kids, aka Avery and her minions and Ryder and his asswipe friends. I spend the next few minutes listening to Becca explain some drama that happened last period, the one class we don't have together, while I eat my food.
Apparently, some girl in her class dumped her boyfriend in front of the whole class and the proceeded to cry for the rest of the period. I didn't elicit the right response, because Becca puts her fork down and stares at me.
"Lys," she says sternly. "What happened earlier? You're clearly still upset about it. Do I need to go and f*ck him up?"
"No, no. No need. I'm fine. Really. I've just got other stuff on my mind."
"Like what?" she asks not too convinced.
"Well," I say pausing as I think up something to talk about.
"I have to go and pick up my car today."
"What? That's awesome news! Where is it?"
"It's just at the shop."
"Sweet, well I can totally drive you to get it."
"Um, okay, thanks!"
Satisfied that she had made my problems a little better, she switched the conversation to Halloween and what usually happened around here that day.
