13 - "cache."

I watched as Hobi shoved the body of the guardsmen into a nearby roomy cabinet that used to be occupied by stacks and stacks of paper, before Hoseok pushed the papers out, making a huge mess on the polished floor that was already painted with blood.

While he was doing that I was using the guardsmen's jacket to wipe up the mess, moving as quick as I could before pushing all the papers under cabinets and in corners so they weren't visible to the three guardsmen who were currently making their way down the hallway; guns in hand.

"Does it look clean enough?"

"Fuck, get that spot."

Hoseok pointed to a somewhat pink blotch that I didn't waste time in rubbing harshly with the jacket that was already soaked with blood; I had no choice but to use my own sleeve to wipe it down, it successfully went off clean before Hobi grabbed my arm violently, shoving us both into an empty closet with slats.

Our breaths were ragged and heavy as we tried to calm down. Beads of sweat not only running down my skin but Hobi's cheekbone as well; that also had spots of red on it.

So I wiped it off with my sleeve before it could stain his skin in any way. The man sending me a grateful look before facing forward again. The closet was so humid due to how heavily we were breathing; although the heat radiating off the both of us seemed to disappear the moment the guardsmen walked in, my skin running cold...

If we hadn't heard the head guardsmen radio in it would've gotten messy; fast. They would've walked in on us standing over the man we killed after we got the needed answers...

"Killing him makes more sense than letting him live..." Hoseok had said as he was wiping his blade on the inside of his jacket. Somewhat unbothered and calm under the circumstances... It made chills run down my spine as I thought more deeply about; Hoseok was a murderer... and he didn't bat an eye at the fact.

The three men let their eyes wander around the room; one man looking to the left whereas the other looked our way, glancing at the cabinet momentarily before letting his eyes skim around the room more.

The main man had stepped forward to the computers, leaning down to look at the footage. I did nothing but worry as my eyes fell on the bloodied jacket just below his feet; underneath the table the evidence that would send the entire vault into chaos; that is if they said anything about it... I would obviously be the one they all pointed their accusing fingers to...

Hobi had taken notice of the jacket right away, nudging me with a panicked look, my eyes meeting his for a few seconds before looking back to he men who had started to speak, Hoseok looking as well; adjusting the grip on his new weapon.

"Harlem, report." The head guardsmen spoke demandingly into the radio. Them seeing Harlem wasn't in the room, they must've figured he was getting something to eat or having a short break.

Hoseok and I must've of thought we thought of everything; that we could get away with this... but we very evidently forgot one important detail, not referring to the jacket.

The radio.

It cackled in the cabinet next to us, although considering it was in a cabinet it didn't sound like an echo of the man's voice.

We both watched through the slats frozen as the guard closest to us took careful steps toward it with the other two ready to fire at a moments notice.

Hobi's tense posture made it obvious he was agitated, I felt his hand brush mine every now and then as he continued to adjust his grip on his weapon. Almost seeming as if he was ready to pounce at any second if he had to.

The guard was just about to swing open the door when the PA system went off.

"All guardsmen report to the Guardsmen offices immediately. All guardsmen report to the Guardsmen offices immediately."

"You heard him, let's go."

The main man ordered stiffly before following behind his 'followers' out the door. Hoseok was the first to react and lunged out of the cabinet, going for the jacket and hiding it behind a another cabinet then opening the one the corpse was in; taking the radio from the pocket, slamming the door shut.

"That was too damn close. C'mon, our jobs not done."

I sighed, I forgot about our other task...

✧ ✧ ✧

Surprisingly; we made it out of the maze of hallways without harm, although the eeriness didn't falter as we practically sprinted out of the place; our nerves shot and shaking as we thought back to the shadow of a man we saw earlier.

And something that may come of more of a surprise; was that our next task was going to be harder... much, much harder.

We stood in the elevator once again, quiet, breath still uneven as we tried to catch up with it once again.

"O-okay. So... the weapons cache. You said it was on the fourth floor?"

"Y-yeah."

"Isn't that where... where the Guardsmen Offices are?"

It hadn't dawned on me until that moment that we're going to literally go on the floor where we could most likely be simply arrested, or better yet killed...

"Yeah." I gulped down the lump in my throat as Hoseok pushed the button for the fourth floor, the elevator moving smoothly downward as we kept our thoughts to ourselves until the last moment.

"We stay quiet. We sneak around. We find the weapons, fitting as much as we can in our bags and we get the fuck out of there. Understood?"

I nodded adjusting the empty bag that had been on my back for the longest time but I hadn't acknowledged it until now; Hobi's bag slung around his shoulder rather than on his back.

The doors opened and we both stood at the corners of the metal box waiting for anyone to walk in. When no one did we looked both ways before walking whilst crouched to the nearest corner.

"This place is a lot warmer than the last that's for sure."

I whispered before going ahead and looking around another corner. My knees brought to my chest each time I took a step forward, the muscles in my legs not wavering one bit as I continued forward. Hobi close behind me as I quickly rushed passed a four way hallway where I saw two guards at the end of one hall.

We went on like this for about ten more minutes before we came across a certain metal door; which was swinging on the hinge, the door seemingly calling for Hoseok and I to enter.

I made the first move toward the door, pushing it open with the base of my palm, the hinge squeaking silently before the door could be opened enough for me to glance in.

My eyes had laid upon two racks of firearms, three racks of melee weapons such as blades and bats, and the last rack being filled with what appeared to be explosives?

Hoseok peered in next to me, staring in awe before passing me and standing at a full height, seeing as the room was clear. "Woah."

"Alright, let's start packing; only, the things that can fit." Hobi said with his finger pointing to me almost scoldingly.

"What?"
