"Welcome back Marcie, how was the weekend?" I smile at Kat, and lean against the front desk as I sign in.
"Completely boring without my kiddos. Yours?" She chuckles and nods.
"As expected from the momma bear of these patients. Mine was well, slept in and earned some good relaxing hours. You missed it! they brought the puppies and kittens in a day early to surprise them."
I gasp out of outrage.
"How dare they! I missed some cute fuzzy's and cuddles and kids?!" She laughs, making me smile.
"Don't worry, girly, it'll happen again."
"It better. See ya later!" I wave and walk into the main hall towards the lady's employee changing rooms. I smile at the people I pass and high five the youngsters, getting "miss marcie! You're back!"s in cute little voices.\\\\\\\\\\\\(^-^)//////////
"Oh c'mon Daniel! I can't reach it and you can! So get your arse over here and use your height to the advantage!" He grits his teeth but does as told, making me smirk as he grabs the board game the kids want to play.
"There's a reason why the Operation game is ironic, Marcie." He hands it over and chuckles at his own joke. I smile and skip over to the kids, the box rattling in my grip.
"What game is it this time? Clue?" Alex questions, bouncing in her spot and making the tubes connected to her sway.
"No way! We played that five times already. I want to play monopoly!" Jack squeaks out, his vocals still healing from the surgery. I look at him and put my finger over my lips, then sign to him "use sign language, Jackie" he huffs and whines "I don't wanna" with a angry expression. I send him an apologetic face.
"Miss Marcie, a kitty tried to -"
"Miss Marcie!"
"Miss Marcie, do you like anyone?"
"Miss Marcie! A kitty licked in my ear!" I chuckle at the kids, all wired and connected to pumps of liquids and heart monitors. Some bald with caps and others with illnesses we can't heal and then some.
"Okay, Okay my phoenixes. Ready to play?" I set the game down so it's ready to play and hand out the pieces to the kids, watching them set them in the places. I chuckle and don't correct Zoe when she puts the rope where the snot should go. In the end we all mix and match the pieces.:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I run my hand through the back of my pixie cut, gripping the hairs long enough to grab. I smile at a toddler who just had heart surgery a couple days ago, walking around connected to her rolling stand in hello kitty slippers.
"Hey sweetie, why are you up so soon?" I squat down so we're eye level, her brown eyes meeting mine.
"My slippers heal me faster." She confidently said, her blond hair a mess from the trials she went through. I chuckle softly and swipe it out of her face softly.
"Yes they will, Susie." She smiles at me, then goes to walk around. I step out of her way and watch her go, smiling at her strength. I turn and walk to the table I'm stationed at, the sign "make a wish!" Surrounded by kids drawings across the front and above my head. I sit down and go through the papers the kids put it. Puppies are the popular one, and we get therapy dogs that get trained for it. I stop when one paper stares me in the face.******************************************************************************
