I rub the back of my neck and sigh softly. I need to get this hero thing done and over with, it's already wearing me down.
"Miss Marcie!" I glance to the kid who called me, smiling when I see a familiar blond hair and shiny blue eyes. Jack smiles and rushes to me. "Have you asked him?" I smile at him and squat down to speak quietly.
"I plan on getting to them tonight. What do you think, should I message them? Or use the bat signal?" I note the glint of mischief in his eyes.
"Use the signal. It gets them every time." I smirk and ruffle his hair.
"What makes you say that kid?" He huffs and fixes his hair while glaring at me.
"Because I believe in it." I smile and get up, gesturing into the room down the hall.
"You joining the rest for Theater Tuesday?"
He snorts and shakes his head.
"No way! Are you kidding? All you want is to watch princess movies!" I raise an eyebrow, noting how his tough guy act is strong. Dang kiddo, I'd give you a chill pill if they weren't deadly. I sigh and act indifferent.
"Okay, fine. I guess we'll have to debate over Wolverine or The Greatest Showman." I scratch my scalp with a thoughtful expression as I turn away. After five steps and no speak up, I glance back at him to see a frown, a sad one. I smile at him and point out the door.
"If you ever change your mind, we'll be in that room." I turn and walk into the room, seeing between 10 to 15 kids. I smile at them all and walk to the two movie cases, showing them to the kids.
"Your options are Wolverine and The Showman. Hands up for Wolverine?" I hold the case up for Hugh Jackman with a white tank top and claws. 8 hands. "And now for The Greatest Showman?" The cover of the circus with Hugh Jackman in a ringmaster uniform. 9 hands.
"Can I vote too?" I glance to see Jack hovering around the door. I smile and nod, gesturing with Wolverine for him to join the rest.
" I choose...Wolverine." I sigh softly.
"That makes y'all tied. I'll have to say..." I stare at the covers, going through my memory for favorite scenes and if I'm in the mood for one.
"..the greatest showman." I earn some cheers as I open the case. And some boos and complaints about it being too girly. I roll my eyes and grab the remote to the tv, pausing the ads and standing in the way.
"Now for the rules. 1. Respect each other, respect me. 2. Clean the mess you leave. That's all. Anyone want water? Popcorn?" Several hands raise and I smile and leave for bottles of water. I hand them out and set the spares at the table by the door. I glance at them.
"Okay guys, I'll have to let the ads play and get someone else to watch y'all while I pop the popcorn. That okay?" After I get nods and "yes miss Marcie"s, I step out the room and find a friendly looking nurse.
"Excuse me, I need someone to watch over 15 kids for a few minutes I have to pop popcorn. Can I trust that to you?" She nods smiling, and I point her to the room and hand her the remote then jog to the kitchens. I pop five bags and bring them and cups for independent snacking to the room. I set the popcorn at the back in the dark room and serve out the popcorn to the kids. I turn to thank the gal only to find she's gone and a rather cute guy is found instead. I frown and settle beside him in the chair.
"Uhm, not to be rude but who are you? Where's the nurse that was here before?" His black eyes meet mine in the darkness, a smile spreading on his face.
"I'm sorry, ma'am. My name is-"
"Miss Marcie!" A kid screams.
