"Once the seat-belt sign is off, please take your luggage and exit the aircraft. Enjoy your stay at LA. If, you are returning, welcome home. Thank you for taking Air New Zealand." The seat-belt sign is still on, but I take off my seat-belt anyway.
Once it turns off, Hyemi unnie and I stand up, grab our bags and rush out of the plane. Once we picked my other bag from the bag pick-up area, we stand around awkwardly. "So, um..." I trail off, "Where are you headed off to now, unnie?"
"My parent's house," she purses her lips into a small smile. I slowly nod, "I guess I'll see you another time." I smile tenderly, waving goodbye before turning around and walking away. I look down as I haltingly saunter to where the main area was located.
"Hye Jung, wait!" I hear a familiar voice in the distance. I stop in my tracks, turning around to see Hyemi unnie running towards me, her bags in her hands. She stops in front of me, gasping for air, "Why are you so fast?" I chuckle, "I can't help having long legs."
After catching her breath, she stands upright, "Is it alright if I can come with you? I feel so attached to you already, and just like I said before; I'll be your mother." I bite my lip, fighting back the tears as I slowly nod, "Okay." We walk side by side, looking for a sign that had my name on it.
"There," Hyemi unnie points to a well-built man in black, standing amongst the crowd. He had black hair, slightly tanned skin, and his eyes - well I can't say anything about his eyes because they were covered by the black shades he was wearing.
We walk over and I say, "That's me." He glances at his phone, probably because of the photo he made me send to him a few days ago to confirm my identity. He nods and walks away with us following behind. He opens the door to a black van and we sit inside, while he sits in the driver's seat.
Once the car roars to life and glides onto the road, en-route to the studio, I start admiring the view. I had never experienced the overseas before. Well, I've only been between the borders of New Zealand and small island called Fiji, located in the Pacific Ocean.
I smile as I marvel at the sight that passed in front of me - Tall, industrial buildings, beaches with water that glistened as the sun's rays fell onto the surface of it, creating a pathway, and palm trees. I loved how admist all the buildings, there was always a touch of nature added.
After a while, the car comes to a halt as we finally arrived at the studio. "Uh, what should we do with our bags?" I ask. The bodyguard glances at me, "Just leave them in here. You'll be going somewhere else soon." With that, we all step out of the van and Hyemi unnie and I anxiously stare at tall building that lay in front of us.
"What's happening, Hye Jung?" Unnie asks, I could tell from her voice that she was nervous as to what was going on. I give her a small smile, "You'll see soon." We chase after the bodyguard who had walked off ahead.
He opens the door to a room and we step inside. The loud voices that once could be heard outside, now cease to exist as Hyemi unnie and I stand around awkwardly. "You must be the great Hye Jung."
A woman smiles as she walks up to me, embracing me in a welcoming hug. "You know, Shawn doesn't stop talking about you."
"I do not!" I hear a voice from the corner. He stands up and walks over, "Margaret never stops lying." She makes a dramatic face, then walks away. "Hye Jung," Shawn waves his hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, s-sorry. I-It just feels like a dream," I explain, feeling the heat crawl up to my cheeks as my heart starts racing. "So that's why you're blushing," he slightly smiles. I cover my cheeks with my hands. He chuckles and glances at Hyemi unnie.
Her eyes had widened and her mouth hanging open. "Y-You're... uh... Sha-Shawn Mendes," she managed to complete her sentence in between heavy breaths. Shawn chuckles while nodding, "I am."
Hyemi unnie looks at me as her eyes seemed to be growing, "You never told me we were gonna be meeting him!" "Well, I wanted it to be surprise for you," I slightly purse my lips. She extends her hands in front of Shawn, "H-Hi, I'm Hyemi."
He shakes her hand, "Nice to meet you, Hyemi." They let go and Hyemi unnie reaches out to her cheeks, placing her hands over them as she goes into deep thought. I smile at her. "How was your flight? I hope everything was all right," he asks as we all take a seat.
"Everything was fine," I answer. "So, when would you like to start recording?" He questions, looking at me expectantly. I look down at my hands which were shaking, "Uh, the thing is, I, uh, haven't really sung in front of anyone before. I-I have a slight anxiety."
I feel strange inside my stomach, as I eagerly wait for him to say something. "Oh, that's totally fine," he waves a hand in the air, "I also had anxiety. It took me a while, but I finally got over it. It's all up to you to take a stand. I can teach you a few tricks if you would like. They really help."
I purse my lips into a small smile, "Thank you." "Actually, I just came up with a really good idea," Shawn looks at Hyemi unnie, "Do you sing or rap?" Hyemi unnie knits her eyebrows together in confusion because of the sudden question, but she answers, "Um, I can do both. But, rapping is more my style."
"Would you like to be in a duo with Hye Jung?" She slightly widens her eyes at the remark, "A duo? As in... as in like, famous people? OMG, yes, yes, yes. Definitely, yes!"
She jumped from her seat, her hands balled into fists as she punched the air with a huge smile resting on her face. "Oh, sorry," she smiled sheepishly, regaining her posture as she slowly plopped back down onto her seat. "Okay, so it's decided," Shawn clasps his hands together, "We will be debuting a new duo featuring Hye Jung and Hyemi."
I can't believe it. I'm going to be in a duo. I'm going to be a singer. I'm going to be famous.
It's like a dream. The moment feels so surreal, I really wanted someone to pinch me to snap me out of it.
If only.
If only my family were here. If only they weren't against my dreams. I'd have their support with me all along.
They'd be proud of me.
Proud of what I am going to become.

A/N: Heyo, stars. I'm seriously enjoying writing this book so far. I apologize if it is not interesting as of now. I will try my best to make the chapters interesting for you, especially when she goes to South Korea to do - Well I ain't gonna spoil it for you guys. Lol. I'm just gonna leave now. And interesting fact though: I have been writing this book since the end of 2017 yet I never really told anyone about.
