THE RECKONING:
CHAPTER THREE

Eleanor had spent the rest of the night convincing Mrs. Macready, alongside Susan, to let her sleep with the Pevensie's. Their room was big enough and Eleanor made up the lie that she was scared of sleeping alone in small spaces.

Finally, the woman had agreed even if she did it to get the teenagers to leave her alone– Susan and Eleanor were happy.

Peter had helped bring a bed from the room opposite into their own, he kindly moved his further away, letting the girls be by each other. Something which made Eleanor smile.

The trio had fallen asleep after listening to the radio and updating themselves about the war. It was peaceful, but of course it didn't last long.

A bright light made Eleanor squeeze her eyes tightly shut, she covered her face with a groan, as did Peter and Susan. "Peter, Eleanor, Susan! Quick! Wake up, wake up! It's there! It's really there!"

Peter was the first to sit up, worry was evident in his face as his little sister stood between his legs, his hands planted softly on her upper arms. His eyebrows furrowed.

"Shhh," Peter looked at the girls and hoped they were asleep, but began to frown when the pair were watching him and Lucy, just as confused. "Lucy, what are you talking about?"

"Narnia! It's in the wardrobe like I told you!"

Susan groaned. Eleanor swiftly sat onto Susan's bed because it was closer, she smiled with pity at the brunette beside her.

"You've just been dreaming, Lucy!" Susan complained.

"But I haven't!"

"Lucy," Eleanor pleaded. "I-"

"I saw Mr. Tumnus again! And this time, Edmund went too!" Lucy pointed to her brother who stood beside her, shock upon his face as he looked as if he'd seen a ghost.

Peter turned to his brother. "You... you saw the faun?"

"Well, he didn't actually go there with me. He... What were you doing Edmund?" Lucy questioned, turning to the black haired boy with a quizzed face.

"I-I was just playing along." Edmund hesitated. Eleanor's faced formed a frown. What a cruel thing to do to such a young girl. "I'm sorry Peter. I shouldn't of encouraged her, but you know what little children are like these days. They just don't know when to stop pretending."

He turned back to Lucy and gave her a smug grin.

Within seconds, Lucy began to cry and ran out of the room. Peter was the first to scramble form his bed and run after her, followed by Eleanor and finally Susan, all of three who shoved Edmund out the way in doing so.
