The children sat comfortably around a fire lit by Mrs. Beaver, Lucy sat hugging Peter while Susan and Eleanor sat together.

The fox yelped again as Mrs. Beaver attempted to fix his wounds, every time he winced, so did Lucy.

"They were helping Tumnus. The witch got here before I did. Ow! Oh!"

"Are you all right?" Eleanor asked, her eyebrows raised.

"Well, I wish I could say their bark was much worse than their bite, Ow!"

"Stop squirming!" Mrs. Beaver ordered, making Lucy smile. "You're worse than Beaver on bath day!"

To this, all the children laughed, for this first time in hours- they were smiling.

"Worst day of the year," Mr. Beaver muttered.

"Thank you for your kindness," The fox weakly stood up, a grin plastered upon his face. "But that's all the cure I have time for."

Lucy stood up, "You're leaving?"

The fox nodded slowly. "It has been a pleasure, my queen, and an honor, but time is short and Aslan himself has asked me to gather more troops."

"You've seen Aslan?" Mr. Beaver asked, perking up.

"What's he like?"

"Like everything we've ever heard. You'll be glad to have him by your side in the battle against the witch." The fox grinned.

"A battle?" Eleanor asked, livening up.

"But were not planning to fight any witch," Susan intervened.

"By surely, King Peter, the prophecy!"

"We can't go to war without you." Mr. Beaver said, "and one of you will become The Red Knight, that leaves three girls."

"What's wrong with girls?" Lucy asked,

"And whose to say ow of us isn't The Red Knight?" Eleanor asked, folding her arms.

"We just want our brother back," Peter said, cutting the girls off.

"Now," Mr. Beaver explained. "Aslan's camp is near the Stone Table, just across the frozen river."

Eleanor's eyes widened as she looked to Peter "River?" The king asked.

"Oh, the river's been frozen solid for a hundred years."

"It's so far," Eleanor groaned.

"It's the world, dear. Did you except it to be small?" Mrs. Beaver joked,
