THE RECKONING:
CHAPTER TEN

"Jadis! Queen of Narnia."

Everybody felt their skin crawl as the witch entered camp, people began shouting things at her, she didn't belong here.

"Empress of the lone islands!"

She walked towards Aslan, the whole camp- including the children, were assembled in front of Aslan's tent. Aslan waiter on the little rock plateau.

"You have a traitor in your midst, Aslan." The Witch spat.

The crowds gasped, making Lucy hold Edmunds hand.

"His offense was not against you."

"Have you forgotten the laws upon which Narnia was built?" The Witch questioned.

"Do not cite the Deep Magic to me, Witch. I was there when it was written." Aslan retorted.

"Then you'll remember well that every traitor belongs to me. His blood is my property."

Eleanor grasped ahold of Edmunds other hand. None of the children would let the Witch take Edmund.

Peter stepped forwards, drawing his sword. "Try and take him then," Otimin took a step forwards too.

The Witch turned to the children with a smirk. "Do you think that mere force will deny me of my right.... little King?" The witch tilted her head.

"What about fear?" Eleanor asked, watching as everybody's eyes made their way to her.

The witch scoffed. "And what do I, Queen of Narnia, have to fear," the witch tumbled on her words, Eleanor's eyes went to her waist and the scabbard that sat there. She could see the sword, she could see it's glow and the prophecy written upon its blade in Latin- the witches death. She shuddered.

"Aslan knows that unless I have blood, as the law demands," she turned to face the crowd. "All of Narnia will be overturned and perish in fire and water." She pointed to Edmund, "That boy will die on the Stone Table... as is tradition. You dare not refuse me."

"Enough!" Aslan barked. "I shall talk with you alone."

The children sat on the grass outside the tent, very clearly bored as they picked at the grass.

"What do you think is going to happen?" Lucy whispered, Susan and Peter looked at each other.

"I'm sure your brother will be fine," Eleanor whispered back. "And so will Aslan."

The Witch threw open the flaps of Aslan's tent. Everybody stood. She walked back to the seat she arrived in, pausing for a second to look at Edmund.
