“When will he give up?” Melody asked Cordelia as the two started to eat their lunch.

“Aiden never gives up. I suppose it is one of his many qualities which make him suited to be a prince,” Cordelia said thoughtfully, biting into her sandwich.

“I don’t understand why he has to use it on me though,” Melody sighed for the tenth time since she woke up and found Aiden at her door. “He knows about the deal I made with the king, right?”

“Sure he knows; I told him last night. The only thing about Aiden is that when he has his mind set it is really hard to get to stop,” Cordelia replied softly while she looked around to make sure no one was listening or even near enough to hear.

“Perhaps he just wants to get me in trouble since I did constantly run into him yesterday,” Melody packed up most of her uneaten food. It was almost time to continue with doing chores, hopefully she wouldn’t run into him again.

“I doubt it,” Cordelia laughed knowing Melody was only making fun of the situation, but could not help herself.

Overnight the two girls had become best of friends towards each other. From telling each other’s past to their encounters with Aiden and the king. It almost seemed as if they had known each other for years. While talking, the time slipped away, neither noticing the light slowly pouring into their room.

It was right after both girls had gotten dressed in which Melody opened their door to find Aiden propped on the wall opposite. At first he seemed to be looking down and did not notice them, but when Cordelia stepped out, she noticed his head slowly nodding.

Melody laughed, silently wondering how long he had been there. When he woke up and was about to say something to to her she slammed the door closed and refused to come out until Cordelia shooed him away.

Lunch was the first time all day she had time to relax without having to look over her shoulder to make sure the promise between her and the king was kept. With Aiden it was looking harder to keep. But alas, Melody’s peaceful meal was interrupted by the prince once again as he trailed behind the servants from today’s lunch service.

“Shall we meet here for dinner?” Cordelia asked before Melody could hide herself.

“Of course,” Melody smiled glad she had made a friend.

“Hello, ladies,” Aiden said, looking around the room to spot someone. “Have any of you seen Melody?

The servants in the room where lunch was being held all looked around before pointing towards Cordelia. Melody had already hid herself in the kitchen hoping Aiden wouldn’t come looking in there since there was no way out except for a small window and she did not feel like going through it.

“Melody around yet?” Aiden walked up to Cordelia with a smile.

“She already left. Say, why do you have such an interest in her anyway?” Cordelia was curious as to why he would go chasing after Melody since he had never do so with anyone else.

“I’m trying to take her with us, since my father seems to have taken a liking to her,” he spat out the word “father”, but kept his voice low in case others heard him.

“Right, should I try talking to her tonight? Since we don’t leave until tomorrow anyway?” Cordelia asked while she continued to eat, unconcerned about the others.

“Thanks. I’ll see if I can’t talk to her before then. I think it would be better if she heard what we’re trying to do from me instead of just from someone else. But I’m sure all of you are probably already packed and ready to go,” Aiden smiled remembering how excited Derek had been when they explored the tunnels. “Derek and I picked out a few routes, so tell everyone to meet at the old center of the castle.”
