Aiden and Blake had been running for sometime trying to locate the rest of their group. It seemed almost impossible. They had covered much of the areas nearest the castle as the sounds of armer clinking together as soldiers ran in different directions looking for the small band. Aiden's thoughts went towards William and the paper, hoping it wouldn't get the poor man in trouble.
"Aiden, I think I hear them," Blake hissed back as he stared into the woods.
He was right, there was some faint whispers coming from the direction they were heading in, but it was hard to tell who it was. Aiden nodded and Blake crept closer, still out of sight in case it was a different group of people. Aiden followed right after him, stopping shortly before Blake.
'What silly humans' a voice said lazily and softly.
"Who's there?" Aiden hissed spinning around to try and get a decent look at the one who spoke.
Blake swiveled around from his position to promptly glare at the other man, before giving the unknown whispers his attention again.
'Oh this one can hear me it seems. Young one, what are you sneaking in the woods for? Shouldn't you be asleep?' The voice asked in a rather gentle melody as it seemed to come closer to Aiden.
"Who is that?" Aiden whispered in softer, not wanting to feel the wrath of Blake later.
'It matters not who I am, but rather who you are. So again, young one, what are you doing in the woods this late at night?' The voiced asked slightly irriated. Aiden heard a slight flutter of wings, but then the woods around them grew silent pray for the whispers he should have been paying attention to.
"We're here because we want to stop the king from-"
"What the hell are you doing?"
Aiden turned to see Blake rushing through the brushes between the trees into the encampment. He could only assume it was their group or if things were at its worst, another group in perilous danger. Rushing through the brushes he spotted the familar faces of Cordelia hovering over Melody who stared at her hands. Blake stood there in complete silence and shock in the middle of the clearing, looking directly at her. One of the younger boys, Paulie if Aiden remembered right, tried to comfort the other who was clearly shooken up, but it almost seemed as if no one dared to speak.
“What happened?” Aiden asked not quiet understanding what was going on since he had been paying more attention to the voice in the woods.
“I-I really don’t know...” Melody started, but stopped, not sure where she was going with it. Her body curled in slightly as if to protect herself from any of the comments the others were going to make about what had just transpired. Aiden could see her shaking as Cordelia kneeled down beside her with a concerned look. Cordelia was always the type of person to mother someone so it was of no surprise to her helping Melody, but Aiden could tell there was something off.
“Aiden, you know a little something about magic right? You used to read about it at least,” Cordelia said looking up at him, waiting for his response, not revealing anything more about where she was trying to go with it.
“Sure, I read plenty of books on magic. My family even has a bit of magic in it since we’re royality, but we need gems to use it. Why?” Aiden was confused, but would wait to ask the swarm of questions in his head for the time being.
“Melody, what you did right there is considered white magic. You can heal, shed light to something, and I’m sure other things as well. Aiden is able to use what people have considered black magic, which tends to lean more towards elemental side of things,” Cordelia explained slowly to let the information sink in.
