The wind blew gently through the leaves of the trees, rustling the hair of the raven-haired man standing over a polished stone. Staring at the name carved into the stone, Jungkook didn't even feel as the thorns of the white roses he clutched in his hand cut into his fingers. Nor did he feel as the blood began to drip to the grass at his feet. Staring at his beloved's name, he struggled to feel anything other than loss.

It's been 6 years, but the pain and memories were just as raw as if it had just happened. Opening his mouth, he tried to think of what he should say. What do you say when you visit the grave of the one you love, whom you foolishly hurt and then lost? Saying 'I'm sorry' seemed so small and pointless. Swallowing back tears, Jungkook finally set the flowers down, reaching out and running his fingers over his lover's name. Pressing a kiss to his fingers and then against the smooth granite, he turned and walked away. 'Maybe I'll be able to say something to him once I've gotten his revenge.'

As he slid back into the limo, he glanced at Namjoon who seemed lost in thought. "What is next on the agenda?"

Snapping out of whatever thoughts occupied him, the older glanced at his phone. "There's a meeting to update you on the Byun group."

Frowning, Jungkook went over all he knew about the opposing group. The Byun group was nearly as powerful as the Jeons. He knew that Byun Baekhyun had taken control of the group after his father's death, right around the same time Jungkook had been sent to America by his own father. He remembered his father briefing him on the group as they settled in with the new leadership. Although the two groups technically battled for control of Korea, they did have some partnerships where they each profited.

Reaching his home, he barely spared a glance at the large mansion as he walked inside, heading immediately to his office. After seating himself at his massive desk, he raised an eyebrow at his most trusted men. "So what is happening with the Byun group?"

Glancing at Hoseok and Jimin, Namjoon leaned forward. "We recently lost one of our insiders in the group. Apparently the bastard got greedy and was busted stealing from Baekhyun. He was found in pieces. His...remains...had been arranged into the shape of a V.

Frowning, Jungkook narrowed his eyes in confusion before asking, "As in, the letter V?"

Jimin nodded, "Yeah, apparently it's the calling card of Baekhyun's favorite pet, an assassin who's known only as 'V'. He has a reputation for being particularly vicious. People, including your late father, have been trying to identify him for years. Unfortunately, people who see him tend not to survive to give any information, and when he is spotted, he's always wearing a mask."

Jungkook nodded, taking in the information. Looking at Jimin he points,"Jimin-hyung, I want you to work on finding more out about this 'V'. The Byun group is our strongest opponent, we can't afford to have a threat like that wandering around without an idea of who it is."

Jimin nods in understanding. "I'll let you know as soon as I discover anything. Do you want him taken out when we find out who he is?"

The ravenette ponders for a moment before shaking his head. "Not yet. Not until we see the Byuns making moves against us. For now just figure out who he is and how to take him out when it's needed."

Turning to Namjoon, Jungkook changes the subject. "Any update on what we talked about in the car?"

Shifting uncomfortably, the older glances at Hoseok. "It's only been a few hours, but I got the files pulled on the investigation into the murders of the Kim family. The detectives involved labeled it as a burglary gone wrong. But, I have to be honest, from what I'm reading, that doesn't make sense."

Leaning forward, Jungkook takes in how uncomfortable his hyung looks,"Doesn't make sense how?"

Namjoon takes a deep breath, "The parents were found tyed to chairs, and had obviously been badly beaten before being shot. An unidentified individual apparently found them, along with Taehyung, and called for an ambulance. The parents were pronounced dead at the scene, while Taehyung was taken to the hospital where he died in surgery. Despite it being a so-called 'burglary gone wrong', expensive electronics and jewelry were left untouched. And if it was a burglary gone wrong, what reason was there to torture and kill the Kims?"

Closing his eyes, Jungkook struggled to restrain the growing fury as he imagined how terrified his Tae must have been. 'Did he beg? Cry? What did my baby face while I left him alone?' Swallowing back his rage, the younger man focused in on the details.  "You said it was an unidentified person who alerted police? How could the cops not know who made the report? And why wasn't more of an investigation done?"

Grimly, Namjoon nodded, "I'm looking into it now. It doesn't make sense that this investigation was labeled the way it was, or that more wasn't done to identify the people involved."

Hoseok cut in, "I'm going to work on seeing what happened in the background. I'll pull the financial information for the Kims, see if they were maybe involved in something that put them at risk. I'll also look and see if there were any suspicious deposits made into any of the investigators accounts. Maybe they were paid to look the other way."

Jungkook nodded. He'd never liked Tae's adoptive parents. They'd been cold and uninterested in the vulnerable young boy, leaving him feeling hurt and worthless. But, if their activities had led to Taehyung's death...well, it was good for them that they were already dead, otherwise they'd be begging to die by the time he was finished.

AN: So now Jungkook has heard of the Baekhyun's favorite assassin, V. How do you think their future interactions may play out?
