His Buried Past| Taekook

Chapter 9

The red-haired male rubbed at his tired eyes before staring grimly at the information on his screen. It was pretty damning. He was trying to keep his feelings disconnected, but it was hard since it was Taehyung's case he was working on. Every time he thought that the people he was looking into might have been involved in taking their precious Taehyungie away...he gritted his teeth before taking a deep breath. He had to give this new information to Jungkook, and he knew the young leader was going to demand blood.

Time skip

"So what exactly am I looking at?" Jungkook looked up from the paperwork and gave a cold stare at a tense looking Hoseok, Namjoon seated next to him looking somber.

Hoseok took a deep breath, "I looked into the records of the investigators on the Kim's case. They each received large pay offs, and then they each retired within a few months. The same goes with their captain. I traced the pay offs back through another series of shell corporations, back to the Byun group."

The raven haired leader narrowed his eyes, his jaw tensing. "So Byun put an end to the investigation?"

The redhead nodded, "It appears that way. But that's not all."

The younger tensed further, already struggling to contain his rage. "What else?"

Hoseok and Namjoon exchanged tense looks, before Namjoon cleared his throat, "When we looked at the financial records of the shell corporations, there was another individual who was paid off. He was paid a fortune, actually."

"Who?"

The older hesitated, "The doctor who operated on Taehyung when he was taken to the hospital."

Jungkook frowned in confusion, "Why would they interfere in the investigation, but also pay a fortune to the doctor who treated Tae?"

Namjoon shook his head, "I don't know. All I know is that he was paid a massive amount, and then abruptly retired. He was relatively young, and his retirement came out of nowhere."

The young leader remained quiet, possibilities running through his head. 'Unless...he didn't actually try to save Tae? Was he paid for making sure my Tae didn't survive?' The thought was painful; Tae had already endured so much, and to hear that he may have been betrayed by someone who was supposed to help him while he was so vulnerable...

Jungkook's voice was dark and filled with rage when it came, "Bring. The doctor. Here."

Suga's and V's apartment

Suga cursed under his breath as he worked quickly at his keyboard, multiple monitors set up in front of him. "Alright fvcker, who the hell are you?" he grumbled, frustration thick in his voice. Whoever it was sneaking into the records he'd meticulously guarded for years was good, damn good. 

Suga did not like the fact someone was poking around now, not when they'd managed to conceal everything for so long. Finally, after hours of staring at the screens in front of him, his lips pulled into a grim little smile. "Gotcha."

Baekhyun's office

Baekhyun's normally bright smile was missing, instead his brows were drawn together in a concerned frown. Chanyeol stood beside his husband, a comforting hand on the smaller man's shoulder.

The cold faced assassin opposite the desk repeated explained, "It's definitely Jeon. I traced the hacking back to his compound. Whoever he has working for him is good. He got the financial records of the investigators that were assigned to the case. And that's not all."

Baekhyun's dark eyes shot up, "What else did they get?"

Suga exhaled, "They know we paid off the doctor that treated Kim Taehyung."
