Monday
Stepping out of his limo, Jungkook glanced up at the high-rise building they were currently standing in front of. He'd brought his most trusted members along with him for the meeting. It was his first time meeting with Byun Baekhyun, and he wanted the people he'd known for years to come along so he could get their impressions as well. Walking confidently into the building, they were immediately greeted with polite smiles and ushered to an elevator. Arriving outside dark wooden doors, a nervous looking young woman led them inside the large conference room. Floor-to-ceiling windows showed an impressive view of the city, sunlight shining on the tall buildings. At the far end of a conference table, Baekhyun stood and offered a smile as he strode forward to greet them.
"Mr. Jeon, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I had the honor of getting to work with your father over the last few years. My condolences on his passing."
Taking the offered hand in greeting, Jungkook gave a firm shake before momentarily freezing at the sight of Baekhyun's smile. It was boxy, giving him a cute appearance that didn't fit at all with his dangerous reputation. For a moment, he was reminded of another cute, boxy smile. Ignoring the tug at his heart, Jungkook returned the smile with his own polite greeting.
"Mr. Byun, it's a pleasure to meet you as well. And I appreciate your sympathy. I hope we can continue to work well together."
Baekhyun nodded, before placing his hand on the back of the tall man at his side. "Allow me to introduce my husband, Park Chanyeol."
Chanyeol gave a polite, if cool, smile as he shook the younger's hand. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Jeon."
Returning his greeting, Jungkook found his eyes flickering to the two men standing behind Baekhyun and Chanyeol. One had creamy pale skin, mint-green hair, and was a bit shorter than his own height. Jungkook wouldn't have been overly impressed, if it weren't for the cold face and eyes looking back at him. He was fairly good at reading people, and his instincts told him this man was dangerous.
Beside the shorter man, stood a taller, slimmer figure. Wearing a fitted suit, his jacket open, it was obvious he wasn't overly muscled. His silver hair was somewhat messy, reaching his chin. But the only part of his face which was visible was the bottom half. What showed was a long, graceful neck, a sharp jawline, and full, almost red lips. Above those lips, was a black cat mask which concealed his nose, cheeks, and forehead. But Jungkook could still see icy blue eyes returning his stare. 'This is obviously the notorious V,' he thought to himself.
(AN: Above is the mask V is wearing.)
Baekhyun's voice pulled him from his inspection, "Shall we sit so we can begin?"
Nodding, Jungkook sat opposite from Baekhyun, Namjoon at his right side, Seokjin at his left. Behind him stood Jimin and Hoseok.
As they discussed business matters, Jungkook found himself glancing occasionally at the masked man behind Baekhyun. He was unnerved to find himself struggling to pay attention to the matters they were covering. For some reason, he wanted to continue looking at the mysterious V. He'd read some more about his exploits, and understood why he was so feared. When V was dispatched after someone, that person was going to die a horrific death. What made it harder to resist staring at him, was that he could sense those blue eyes burning into him. V seemed to be just as interested in staring at him.
On the other end, V felt a jarring shock the moment his blue eyes met those jet dark ones. Jeon Jungkook was slightly taller than him, but obviously more muscled. For some reason, V found his heart aching the longer he watched the powerful mafia leader. The man was gorgeous, but that didn't explain why he couldn't pull his eyes away. He'd met beautiful men before and never felt a thing.
But seeing this man hurt. V wasn't used to feeling things like this. He loved his hyungs, but otherwise he had found himself incapable of feeling for others. So why was this man affecting him so? He hadn't missed the slight twinge he had felt when he glanced over Jeon's men either. There had been a flicker of some unknown feeling when he had looked at each of them as well.
From reading the file Baeki-hyung had given him, he knew they were Kim Seokjin and his boyfriend Kim Namjoon, along with Jung Hoseok and his boyfriend Park Jimin. Each man was attractive in his own way, and had apparently been friends with Jungkook for years. V was yanked from his thoughts as the men at the table stood, exchanging smiles and handshakes.
"Well, I think this was a very productive meeting Mr. Jeon. I'm glad we were able to get together today."
Jungkook smiled, "Yes, I am as well."
Baekhyun smiled his bright, boxy grin back at him, "Oh! I almost forgot! Chanyeol and I are having an anniversary party. I would love it if you were able to attend."
Nodding back, he glanced at Namjoon, "I'd love to come. Just send the details to Namjoon here."
Turning to leave, Jungkook gave one last look at the dark figure behind Baekhyun and his husband. He wasn't surprised to see those blue eyes boring back into him. As he walked away, he clenched his jaw in irritation. He wasn't used to feeling an interest in anyone or anything. He'd been mostly dead inside for the last six years. The only feelings he had left, aside from rage, pain, grief, and guilt, was the attachment for his close-knit circle of friends. He found himself resenting this V for sparking his interest.
