TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES: Chapter Nine.

As we went out, Mike send a message to me saying that we shouldn’t go far so that when he called us we would come fast. We decided to go to a nearby restaurant and wait for his call as my grandmother was very hungry since she had not taken anything since morning. She ordered for food but I did not want to take anything. I was very sad as my brothers had decided to make me a complete stranger. I kept checking my phone incase Mike texted me. After my grandmother was done with taking her food, she told me that she was going back to Mike’s place and that I should not stop her.

She was determined to make things right again. I was not sure whether she was making a wise decision but as long as she was going to solve the problem, I didn’t mind. I told her that I would escort her to the gate and wait for her at the gate man’s room outside the house. She agreed and so we went inside. The gateman let her in as I stayed with him at the gate waiting to be called inside. I just hoped to be united with my brothers and live the good life that we used to live.

Grandma rang the doorbell and I saw Mike open the door for her. I could see her determination and this made me happy. She stayed in for quite a while without communicating with me and this troubled me.

“What if things were not working out well inside?” I thought.

The gateman could see that I was troubled but when he asked I told him that I was fine as I did not want to drag him into my problems. I was so restless but I prayed to God so that He would intervene and be the Judge. I could now hear shouts from the house an indication that things were not alright.

“Kate go in to the house, go and save the situation” the small voice inside me kept pushing me to go inside.

It became so persistent that I had to obey. I walked slowly toward the house and I could hear that the voices were getting louder.

“God please be my helper” I made this quick prayer as I went straight for the door. I rang the doorbell and Mike came to open.

“What are you doing here? I told you that I would call you when everything was calm.” He asked me pushing me aside.

“Leave me alone Mike, I am ready for anything. Kevoh and Mark must hear my own side of the story today.” I said pushing my way inside.

My grandmother was trying so much to convince them that everything that was said about me was false and that I was so innocent but they could hear none of it. That was the reason for their shouting and they did not also want to hear my name being mentioned. After a serious thought I got hold of my phone as it contained all the recordings and then went to the kitchen to get a knife.

“They will have to kill me if they don’t listen to me” I said to myself as I approached them holding the knife.

I went straight to Kevoh as he was the one shouting the most and grabbed him tightly by his coat. I could hear my grandmother and Mike shouting for me to stop but I gave them a deaf ear.

“Kevoh you are going to see me die before you today if you don’t listen to what I have to say.” I said letting go of him and pointing the knife to my chest.

At this point I had no tears to shed .I had to harden up as there was no time for softness.

“Stop my daughter, please you can’t do this.” Grandma kept shouting but I ignored her.

“Kate if you have to die then I must also die.” Mike too was shouting at the top of his voice.

Kevoh and Mark did not even want to listen to me and I guess that they thought I was joking. I raised the knife, closed my eyes and was ready to stab myself when suddenly I heard someone hold my hand. I slowly opened my eyes and Mark was the one holding my hand.

“What is the meaning of all this Kate, if you die here how will your death solve the situation” he shouted at me.

“I have no reason to live Mark. My family has turned their back on me. Even my own parents no longer care about me. I am like an orphan Mark. If it were you what could you do? Death is the only solution at hand for me Mark.” I said shedding tears.

At least Mark’s heart was beginning to soften. I now had to deal with Kevoh who was just staring at me although I didn’t know what was going on through his mind. I pulled my hand from Marks’ grip and went straight to Kevoh. I then got hold of his hand and put the knife in it so that he was holding it. I then raised my hands as a sign of surrender and then ordered him to stab me if he was not ready to listen to me. I waited with my eyes closed for him to stab me but he was taking too long and I was getting impatient. I slowly opened my eyes and what I saw comforted my heart .I had done it. I counted myself a hero. Mark and Kevoh were all shedding uncontrollable tears. Mike had taken my grandmother outside as she was not strong enough for all the happenings inside.

I went and sat on the sofa and sobbed uncontrollably. As I was doing this I heard somebody wrap his arms around my shoulder and to my surprise it was Kevoh. Mark too followed suit and we were hugging uncontrollably. I thought of this as a dream but I remembered the prayer that I had made to God before entering the house, my God had done it and done it in a mighty way. He was leading and guiding me to do what I was doing. I could not help but to thank him.

Few minutes after, Mike came in holding grandma and they just stood at the door surprised at what they saw. Their faces showed it all that they were in shock.

“God bless you my children, I am so happy that you are united once again.” Grandma said blessing us.

Mike was happy too as his eyes shone in happiness. He ordered us to sit down and he gave me an opportunity to share my story to everybody. I narrated everything clearly and then gave my brothers the recording to listen to.

“What! This cannot be true.” Kevoh said jumping up in disbelieve when he heard from the recording that the child he was raising was not his.

“These two women are evil and they must leave our houses before they destroy us as they plan” Said Mark with a groaning voice.

I was now a free person and for the first time I felt at peace with myself. Mark and Kevoh were to leave for their homes that day but we asked them to postpone their journey until the following day so that we could plan on how to deal with those two women, Eve and Emmah.
