TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES: Chapter eleven
Kevoh really thanked grandmother for being of much help during that difficulty period. Grandma was performing her assignment very well and our confidence in her increased the more despite the fact that she was old. I was so glad that Kevoh and Mark had seen with their naked eyes what I had been telling them about all through. At least they knew their wives better now. My brothers had to go back to work as they had just sneaked out of work. Grandmother had to be more alert because if they suspected that she was the spy within, they would definitely harm her. She was very clever and would beat them at their own game.\She called to tell me that Eve and Emmah were so disappointed that their mission did not succeed and that she could see them planning something elase. I told her to grasp anything that could give us a clue of their plans. However to our advantage, they did not suspect grandmother as they thought that she was too old to comprehend anything. She said that after their plan Eve escorted Emmah to her house. The hours flew so fast and it was soon night. We all stayed eagerly waiting for the DNA results the next day. Mike called that night to tell me that he was very happy that the truth was finally unfolding. He also mentioned that my parents would be very happy on hearing that I was innocent of all the charges leveled against me. I did not want to hear him mention this as there was nothing as bad as parents disowning their own child. He comforted me by telling me that everything would work out for good and bid me a good night.
I was anxiously waiting for tomorrow. I was very confident that the DNA results would work out to my favor. I would really laugh at Eve and make her feel as miserable as she had made me feel. It was truly my time for revenge and had to take advantage of it. It was morning the next day and I woke up very early to do my morning chores. I was so excited that I kept singing and humming songs. Positive DNA results would trigger a period of pain and suffering for Eve. She was just about to take her own dose of the bitter pill. I was so excited that I decided to call Mike. “Good morning my love .Hope your night was good.” I said this so excitedly that he sensed my joy. “Good morning beauty, my night was good. Why do you sound so excited over the phone? Has anything good happened during the night?” He asked. “No! No! My dear, but something good is just about to happen, the DNA test results.” I answered in a loud voice that I forgot I was talking over the phone. “Ooh I am sorry, I almost forgot. We are together in this and please try to keep me posted.” He said. I kept checking my phone after every minute to see whether there was any information or call. Time was moving so slowly and I was really getting impatient. It was afternoon and neither Kevoh nor Mark had communicated to me. Just when I was about to lose my patient, my phone rang and Kevoh was there on the line. He sounded so sad and disappointed and I knew something bad had happened. He gave me the best news ever. “Kate, I am sorry that I caused you so much trouble by not believing in you. The DNA results clearly show that I am not the biological father of baby Timothy. I feel cheated and wasted. I had loved this woman with all my heart to the extent of hurting my own sister in order to make her happy and this is what I get in return?” He regretted. “You should have sensed trouble the moment they started complaining about our close relationship Kevoh. It is indeed too late to complain, you just have to make the wrongs right and move on. I will however be with you throughout this rough journey.”I said to comfort him. At this moment I felt like jumping up and shouting so loudly for everyone to know that I was happy. I immediately called Mike to share the good news with him and he was equally overjoyed. He promised to take me out for supper that evening after work so that we would share our happiness. God was doing it in an exceedingly mighty way and I could not help but thank Him mightily. I believed that I was truly a child of God and that all the problems that I faced were so that Eve and Emmah could be exposed just as the saying goes “everything happens for good”. I was becoming a hero in my own way as this was truly Gods time.
Mark too called to tell me of the results and I told him that that was the best news of the day. I told him that Emmah too was a devils incarnate and that he also needed to very careful with her as he usually left her alone at home while at work. Grandmother was too not left behind as she also called me asking me whether Kevoh had shared the good news to me and I told her that I was already celebrating. “My daughter, you are truly God send and that’s why I have always felt attracted to you since childbirth. Your birth gave me so much joy and that’s why I asked your parents to name you after me.” Her voice sounded very strong over the phone as she said this and I could tell that she was overjoyed. Mike later called me that evening for supper and we tossed and made merry in celebration of the good news. We also discussed our next move and we decided that we had to storm Kevoh’s house now since we had all the evidence but we had to inform grandmother, Kevoh and Mark first about the plan. I told Mike that I would inform them and also told him that all this was to be done during the next weekend which was so near.
I went to my house that night very happy but the battle was not over yet. I had to inform Mark, Kevoh and grandmother of our plan to go to their house. I called all of them and they agreed but Kevoh said that we had to do it strategically. We decided that Mike would visit first so that our visit would not draw suspicion. After his visit to Kevoh’s house, Emma and Mark would then be informed of his visit and would be asked to go to Kevoh’s house to say hi to him. It was then when all would be in Kevoh’s place that I would appear. This plan was well planned and we all including Mike agreed to it. We agreed that Mike would visit on Saturday and I would go there on Sunday so that it looked like a coincidence.
On that Saturday morning, I visited Mike to bid him farewell and to wish him a safe journey. He told me that he would eagerly be waiting for me on that Sunday. He left and I went back to my house to prepare for the next day’s journey. I called Mike that evening and he told me that he had arrived safely and that they were planning everything lest we made mistakes. He said once I visited, they would all pretend to be very mad at me for the wrongs I had done so that Eve and Emmah would not suspect anything. I was in for the job and promised never to disappoint them. I woke up that Sunday morning earlier than usual ready for the journey. I said a little prayer, took my bag and then set off for the journey. I called Kevoh and told him to inform everybody that I was on my way but promised to alert them when I was close by. They were supposed to invite Emmah and Mark so that I would meet all of them together. The journey was long but I finally arrived at my destination. I send a text alerting them that I neared the house and that they should get ready for action. I slowly approached the house and the gateman let me. I was fully equipped with my own evidence; the recording while on the other side Kevoh was equipped with the DNA test result. The evidence was enough to send cold chills down Eve’s and Emmah’s spines. They would have to feel their own pain too. They were going to face the consequences for their cruel actions, all pity to baby Timothy who did not know what was going on. Grrrh Grrh, I rang the door bell and Kevoh knowing it was me came to open the door. “What are you doing in my house you witch, have you come to try killing my baby again? I assure you that this time round you will have to face my wrath.” He yelled while pushing me outside in pretense. “Who is there my son? Please let her in.” my grandmother asked too in pretense. “Kate has come here to finish what she started but this time round she will not succeed.” Kevoh answered back. “If she does not leave this place now, we will be forced to call the police. This girl is so evil and I regret being her brother.” Said Mark too in pretense. All this was to trigger Eve and Emmah into action against me and the plan worked because they all stood up and came to the door. All this time, I was shedding crocodile tears and trying to defend myself. “Get out of here you murderer, you have no relationship with us. You are so heartless. How could you try killing my own son?” said Eve confidently. “Yes, she is so heartless, murderer, leave this house at once .´echoed Emmah. I felt like laughing but I could not since I was trying to shed tears. I looked at Mike who was sited down and he signaled me for action. “Stop, stop all of you. I have not come here to beg for anyone’s forgiveness nor have I come here at the mercy of anyone. I am only here to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.” I said confidently. “What truth could you possibly have or have you come to say that you are guilty.” mocked Eve. “Allow me to say what I have come to say and after that if you find me guilty then I will be happy if you call the police for me.” I said. “My sons please allow her say what she has come to say. She could not have come all this way risking her life if she didn’t have anything important to say.” My grandmother begged. They all agreed to let me in and listen to what I had to say. “I am going to be very precise here. I am first going to ask these two, Emmah and Eve very brief questions. Let them explain to us of their mission to marry my brothers and secondly let Eve tell everybody who the biological father of this child is. I am waiting.” I said and then sat down waiting for answers. I looked at the two and they looked very restless. “What are you talking about? I married your brother because I loved him and he is the father of this child.” Eve said quickly and the sat down. “What other reason could make me marry your brother if not love. Can you please stop dragging us into your problems?” Emmah said. All this while I just looked and them and felt like laughing but I could not since I would spoil the plan. “Well said then, today I do not have much to say. Just have a look at this and explain to everybody what this is all about.” I said handing over the recording to both Eve and Emmah. I could see them adjust themselves as the listened to it. They could not believe what they were hearing. “You have caused me so much pain and today it is my turn to make you cry.” I said signaling Kevoh and Mark for action. They demanded in pretense to see the recording and then they all begun scolding them. Eve kept denying the fraternity of the child and Kevoh had to produce the DNA results to her which almost made her faint in disbelief. Everyone including Mike and grandma were scolding them such that they were really having it tough. Kevoh threatened to call the police and this is when they all opened up. They explained all their evil plans on how they planned stealing all the properties from my brothers. Eve also said that the child belonged to her former boyfriend. They also confessed that on the day Mark and Kevoh found them in Kevoh’s bedroom, they were searching for the property papers. Kevoh was so quick tempered and looking at him I could see that he was burning in range. His eyes were red and he was moving around as though looking for something. I suspected that he was looking for something that he would use to hit Eve with and so I had to intervene. I went, held him and took him outside for sometime so that he felt better.
When he got back into the house, he picked up his phone to call the police but I stopped him for the sake of the little boy who was so innocent, as he would be the one to suffer for his mother’s mistakes. I suggested that they would rather send them packing and everyone was in agreement. He went in and threw all Eve’s bags outside and dragged her out. Emmah was busy begging her husband for forgiveness claiming that Eve had dragged her into all this. She said it was Eve’s idea to do all the evil that they were doing. She also said that she was so ashamed of herself but Mark could hear none of that. He called Mike along and dragged Emmah into the car as they headed to his house to throw out her belongings as he did not want anything to do with her.
After about an hour they were back without Emmah and they told us that they had dropped her at the bus park to take a matatu back to where she came from. Eve had already left too and I could not help but celebrate. All were thanking me for the job well done but I told them that all was not over. Mum and dad had to know about all this and somebody had to tell them and that was definitely not me. After a serious discussion, we decided that grandmother would inform them of all that transpired and tell them I was very innocent of all that was said about me. It was a very difficult task but in one way or another, it had to be done.
