Nick
While I worked in the studio, I enjoyed the tranquility of the soundproof room. My studio was my man cave. It was where I could come to listen to music or write or just be alone with my thoughts. I was thinking a lot over the last day or so about Mercy. She wasn't herself. Demi said she would talk to her, but it seemed like she was mad, specifically at me. I tried to talk to her a couple of times & that only seemed to make her retreat more, so I stopped. I figured whatever it was, she would get over it & be fine soon. I hoped so, anyway. I didn't like her being mad at me, especially when I had no clue as to why she was. I racked my brain, trying to figure out what I might have done to make her upset with me. I couldn't figure it out. Hopefully, Demi could.
I was giving Olivia's song one final listen, in the studio, & loving how it sounded. It didn't start off being a duet but when I went in the booth with her to show her what I wanted it to sound like, Paul got the idea to make it a duet. I had to agree it sounded even better as a duet. The song was written by all three of us, each of us taking from our own relationships to tell a story about the most amazing love ever. I switched off the song & heard heavy breathing. I turned to see Demi, fuming, as tears fell down her cheeks. I jumped up, quickly.
"Baby? What's wrong?" I asked, reaching for her. She took a step backward & her mouth turned into an angry pout. Uh oh. What did I do? I knew this face. I had messed up somehow.
Demi wiped, angrily, at her tears, one hand on her hip. "How long has it been going on? Huh?" She yelled.
I was baffled, so I shook my head. "How long has what been going on?"
Demi let out an aggravated sigh as she looked at the ceiling. "Jesus, Nick. Show me some respect & don't lie about it or pretend you have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about!"
I continued shaking my head, stammering a little. "I... don't... I have no idea... Demi... what are you talking about?"
"Your affair! How long have you & Olivia been having an affair?"
I choked on a laugh, only making her angrier. "Are you serious right now?"
"I've never been more serious." She replied through gritted teeth.
"I'm not having an affair with Olivia. Or anyone for that matter." I said in a calm voice, afraid she was going to start hitting me in a second. Her one hand was balled into a fist while the other one was grasping a piece of paper in her hand. She was shaking & I was really wanting her to calm down. I know if I tried to calm her down, it would only make her angrier.
Demi let out a fake laugh & rolled her eyes. "I'm not stupid, Nick. I saw you guys at the party. I heard the song. And you did a duet on the song, too. How cute." She was still fake laughing as she rolled her eyes..
"I don't know what you saw at the party.... but...."
"You ate off her fork." She spat at me.
I couldn't help but to laugh as I smacked my forehead, dramatically. I sat down on the sofa in a huff, baffled by all of this. "Oh yes, silly me. That's the same thing as having sex with her." I bit my lip to keep from laughing harder & nodded my head in a sarcastic fashion, then turned to look away from her. I was wanting to hide my face because I thought she'd see me trying to not look amused by this.
"You think this is funny?" She asked, her eyes wide, looking crazy.
I shook my head, making sure my face wasn't too expressive. "A little. The part I think is funny is that you believe I'm actually having an affair.... and based on what? Me eating off her fork?"
